Free Music Notes for Hope Floats: Music From The Motion PictureFree Music Review: Great soundtrack! Hit: 5 StarsI don't buy too many soundtracks, but this is definately one of my favorites. The music really compliments the movie, which I also really enjoyed. One complaint, the song that Jack Ingram and the Beat-up Ford Band sing in the movie, when Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr's characters are dancing, is not on the soundtrack. It was a great song! There's some really good stuff here though. Bryan Adams "When You Love Someone" is touching and beautiful. Deana Carter hands in an understated performance on the poignantly beautiful "What Makes You Stay". Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood each do good versions of Bob Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love" (Garth's was a pretty big hit). The Sheryl Crow song "In Need" is another highlight. Bob Seger and Martina McBride duet on the moving song "Chances Are". Whiskeytown have a great song on here called "Wither, I'm A Flower". Other highlights include Gillian Welch's "Paper Wings", Jonnell Mosser's version of "Stop In The Name of Love", "Honest I Do" by the Rolling Stones and "To Get Me To You" by Lila McCann. A soundtrack full of moving music, great listen!
Free Music Review: Grusin's score does more than "Float"....it soars.... Hit: 5 StarsRCA's Hope Floats soundtrack album, featuring Dave Grusin's original score for the 1998 feature film starring Sandra Bullock, Harry Connick, Jr. and Gena Rowlands, not only brings scenes from the movie to my mind, but also works well as a purely musical creation. Heartwarming, romantic and even jaunty, Grusin's cues are reason enough to add this album to any music lover's CD library. Although all 11 tracks on this album are superlative, the ones I like best are Grusin's instrumental cues "Going Home," "Justin and Birdie," "Time to Get Up," and "Ramona's Last Story." There are also unlisted tracks of songs covered by Garth Brooks ("To Make You Feel My Love"), Byan Adams ("When You Love Someone") and Deana Carter ("What Makes You Stay"). All in all, this a great album to just listen to, even if you did not see the movie. Betty June Moore
Free Music Review: Hope sinks if you are misled on the CD Hit: 1 StarsThese reviews for Hope Floats are misleading. The reviews at the bottom of the page refer to the Soundtrack album with songs by Garth, Trisha, Dylan, etc., but in fact the CD in question at the top of page only contains the ORIGINAL SCORE from the movie and NONE of the songs by various artists. This is outrageous and should be fixed immediately. I waited for a week to get this CD, and then find it is something else entirely. Somebody do something to avoid misleading more buyers!
Free Music Review: Excellent soundtrack Hit: 5 StarsHOPE FLOATS was a touching movie starring Sandra Bullock, Harry Conick Jr and Gena Rowlands. The music really accompanied the movie well. By far the standout on the soundtrack is Sheryl Crow's "In Need" which stands with even her best songs. It's sort of mellowed out rock with great lyrics. I also qnjoy "Wither I'm A Flower" by Whiskeytown, another great song. The duet "Chances Are" with Bob Segar and Martina McBride might sound like an unlikely duo but it's not, it actually is a great song and they work well together vocally. Bryan Adams' "When You Love Someone" comes at the end of the movie and is very poignant and beautiful. Another favorite is Deana Carter's touching ballad "What Makes You Stay". There's two version of Bob Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love", one by Garth Brooks the other by Trisha Yearwood. Other highlights include "To Get Me To You" by Lila McCann, "Paper Wings" by Gillian Welch and "Stop In The Name of Love" by Jonell Mosser. This is an exceptional soundtrack that trandescends genres.
