Free Music Notes for William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet: Music From The Motion Picture (1996 Version) [Enhanced CD]Free Music Review: One of the best soundtracks ever Hit: 5 StarsI was eight when "Romeo and Juliet" came out (I decided to write a kids review for the hell of it)and yes, I fell in love with leo and I still am. I thought the film was brilliant, with a wonderful performance by claire danes and after seeing it, I heard there was a soundtrack. A friend bought it for me after i said how great the movie was and I instantly was hooked. Although I did not fully understand the songs then, I understand them now and it still remains one of the best soundtracks and films i have ever seen. Here is the breakdown:
*#1 Crush - Garbage (they are one of my favorite bands and this song is GREAT 5/5)
Local God - Very good song to rock to. Upbeat and fun. 4/5
Angel - Ok song, able to listen to but not as great as the others. 3/5
Pretty Piece of Flesh - Great upbeat rocking rhythme. Fun to listen to! 4/5
Dream - Pretty good song, but the lead singer tends to bug me. 3.5/5
Kissing You - wonderful love song! Made me cry in the movie! 5/5
Lovefool - Fun, perky pop song. 4/5
Young Hearts Run Free - Fun song but not amazing. 3/5
Everybody's Free- Nice Gospel song. 4/5
*To You I Bestowe - I love this song! Great guitar song with wonderful beat 5/5
*Talk Show Host - Also one of my favorite songs! 5/5
Little Star - Can't listen to this song. Awful. 1/5
*You and Me Song - Great upbeat song! Love it! 5/5
*= favorite songs even though most songs are GREAT!
Get this great collection, you won't be disappointed!
I also suggest the special edition DVD, it is great!
Free Music Review: I bet you forgot how good it was Hit: 5 StarsSo few soundtracks have the ability to embody the spirit of the movie, unfortunately. This, however, is a happy exception. I liked it more than the movie. Its fast and slow, sweet and angry. This collection has everything you could want. Verona's contemporary violence in a CD player near you. Lovefool is a brilliant song, by the way. Standout songs: #1 Crush (very sexy), Angel, Kissing you, Lovefool, To you I bestow, you and me song
Free Music Review: A Tale of Two Star Crossed Lovers Hit: 5 StarsThis CD is by far one of the best soundtracks out there. Forget the fact that it's derived from a film based on one of the most popular Shakespearian stories of all time. The tracks on this CD are awesome. There's a range from the cool sounds of Radiohead to the haunting sounds of Garbage to listen to. Another great thing about this movie soundtrack, unlike so many soundtracks, is you will actually recognize the music from the movie. I'd definitely recommend this CD to the collection of anyone who enjoyed the movie. Or for anyone who enjoys the works of Garbage, Everclear or Radiohead.
Free Music Review: The great, the good, the rest... Hit: 3 StarsHow often do we buy soundtrack albums for one great song and figure out the rest of the album seems to be coasting on the legend of that one song? I'd say pretty often, and exhibiting that phenomenon more than most records is Romeo and Juliet, a huge hit probably because "#1 Crush"'s success as a single. That song is one of Garbage's best, full of desire so dark, it threatens to kill more than it threatens to love. It's a visceral masterpiece, and the rest of the album is just sorta there around it. Mundy's "To You I Bestow," Radiohead's "Talk Show Host," and the Cardigan's "Lovefool" are good enough songs, but for the most part, it just seems to fill space (do you honestly remember any of Gavin Friday's "Angel" or Everclear's "Local God" when thinking of this cd?).
Free Music Review: The Love of Music Hit: 4 StarsThis soundtrack has more variety than anything else I can think of. This cd begins with Garbage that makes you turn up the volume and then Everclear brings the noise, as well. Don't think the rock is taking over because Des'ree brings in her beautiful voice to mix in the change, but lets not just settle for the slow song. It peps you up with a Kym Mazzelle version of 'Young Hearts Run Free.' Remember the big party in Romeo + Juliet, and Romeo's best friend is singing (lipsyncing). It is a fun cd to listen to. There is no set category for this music. It can be easy going, feet tapping, dancing till you drop, and what the? Oh yes, it has it all.If you have a love of music that doesn't really fit the norm, this soundtrack will do it to the max. Joy.
