Free Music Review: Excellent Introduction to the Blues for New Listeners

Like many others I have been both a listener and a player of Chicago blues for many years. In this age of mass-produced noise, it's a great thing that there is continued interest in the Chess brothers and the vital postwar Chicago blues music of the 1950s.
As a fan of the classic blues, my favorite tracks are the ones by Little Walter, Buddy Guy, and Elvis. But there are some very good interpretations here by contemporary performers too. The musicianship is solid throughout, with some good interpretations on the old Willie Dixon / urban blues numbers.
The rapping is not my favorite thing and to be honest I find it grating and incompatible with the general theme. However, I'm giving this recording five stars to reward the producers who have invested time and money in a project that introduces Chicago blues music to younger musicians and listeners.
