Free Music Notes for Velvet Goldmine: Music From The Original Motion PictureFree Music Review: Maxwell Demon, you ROCK! Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a huge fan of glam rock, from my Fav DAVID BOWIE(who sadly wasn't mentioned in this film) too all the rest like Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Marc Bolan, and Brian Eno(wasn't quite glam but still very cool)... and all the other great ones. I loooove this CD! The music on it is perfect glam rock, any fan will come to love it. Some of my fav songs are The Whole Shebang, The Ballad Of Maxwell Demon, Baby's On Fire, Tumbling Down, and Come up and see me(make me smile). I strongly recommend this. The movie is GREAT too!
Free Music Review: A Stellar Overview of a Stellar Film Hit: 5 Stars
Even with artist like Grant Lee Buffalo and Shudder To Think this collection shines. Thom York's marvelously wasted vocals are great on three of the Venus in Furs songs. Even the newer artists such as GLB STT and Pulp deliver great songs. What more? Ewan Macgregor sings(or screams) on a cover of the Stooges' TV Eye- the only disappointment is Elastica's Donna Matthews and Teenage Fanclub's version of the New York Dolls Peronality Crisis- but it can be forgiven--A Must
Free Music Review: All the Glitters is Gold!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Oh my goodness!! This soundtrack & movie is on fire!! I saw the movie a number of times, and I finally got the soundtrack! It's amazing, it's definitely the 'hot one'. David Bowie is still the man and all, but this is a nice new, fresh batch of glammy songs!! Even my mom likes it [but then again, she was a major Bowie fan... but i asked her & she didn't dress all glammy... unfortunately]. All I have to say is, this is defineitly the 'whole shebang'!!!
Free Music Review: Glammed Out CD- We need more of it Hit: 5 Stars
After seeing Velvet Goldmine I went out and bought thesoundtrack the next day. Then I watched the movie again. Then I wentback and found out what made the cd cut and what fell on the cutting room floor (Sebastion, Cosmic Dancer....what were they thinking? ) But if one can overlook these absences (sniff) the c.d. is fantastic, energetic, passionate and rife with the androgenously playful styles of Bowie and "Brian Slade." ;o)
Free Music Review: Awesome! Hit: 5 Stars
I actually bought the soundtrack before I saw the film. I bought it on a whim last Easter, and I haven't stopped listening to it since. I have always loved Bowie-era 70's glam, but this album taught me that there are so many others out there! I love all the songs, especially the covers, so much so that I'm shopping for Brian Eno and Roxy Music albums for Christmas this year. Buy this even if you don't like the movie.
