Free Music Notes for American Thighs

Free Music Review: The Disc is A Hard-rockin' Blast!
Hit: 5 Stars

in a word: this is a classic. If you enjoy women who can play kick'n Rock music - this is for you. If you are a fan of the Breeders, Tanya Donelly, Belly, Jale, or the like, you will cherish this Hard-rocin' blast.

It is a solid buy. It's worth the price just to listen to "Seether"

Free Music Review: A pop masterpiece....too hard for them to follow-up
Hit: 5 Stars

Decided to write a review of this album, while searching thru this site today. This album remained in my car stereo for a year in the mid '90s, which is amazing for me. Very powerful and original alt/pop album. Too bad they went in a very different direction in the mediocre follow up album, and then broke up. Celebration Day is a truly affecting song. The album is solid throughout. Glad to see this album has received such great reviews.

Free Music Review: Seething Girl Power
Hit: 5 Stars

After seeing Veruca Salt live, I was hooked, I had to buy their albums. I bought "American Thighs" and have played it multiple times daily. It is hypnotic, orchestral, furious and luscious. They command their instruments with raging precision while their songs float on pillows of sonic feedback. I would put Veruca Salt among bands like Smashing Pumpkins (also from Chicago). "Seether", "Spiderman '79" (really beautiful when heard live and outdoors), and "Victrola" remain my favorites. The female duo can harmonize like the B-52s amidst the swirl of raging punk riffs.

Free Music Review: One of the best CDs from the 90's bar none
Hit: 5 Stars

Hard driving, heroin-addicted five-star waif rock. Best of its genre and a CD you keep coming back to. This is their best album, too.

Free Music Review: Renewed Adoration for the Quintessential "Girl" Band
Hit: 5 Stars

I first purchased "American Thighs" as a cassette when it first came out in 1994. I honestly say I couldn't stop listening to it. The harmonic voices of Louise Post and Nina Gordon made songs like well-known "Seether" and others like "Number One Blind" and "Forsythia" anthems for the girl rocker generation.

Then I lost the tape, and I never got a chance to buy another one...

Until recently... Veruca Salt opened for Filter at a recent concert I attended, and I was surprised at how many of the songs from "American Thighs" I remembered. I found myself singing along to "Spiderman '79" and "Victrola" like the songs had never been unshelved from my memory. Now, after being so wonderfully reminded of the great music that came from this album, I made sure to buy it again.

Good enough to buy twice...that's how good Veruca Salt are.
