What party would be complete, even today, without the DJ playing "Y.M.C.A." or "Macho Man"? I have to say that I have never been to a party where they haven't been played. Even at my daughter's high school dances they are always played, which goes to show the timelessness of fun dance songs. The great thing about this album, as well as having original album tracks, it also has 12" versions of some songs that have never been available on album before. As well as "Village People", the B-side of "San Francisco (you've got me)". If you are throwing a party in the near future, remember to grab yourself a copy of this album. A party is not a party without The Village People. We all hate to admit we really liked this group back in the 70's disco era. More than any other disco group, their music was "alive" and bursting with fresh energy. Their shows were one big party and their dancable numbers carried some gay sub-culture messages. So what! These were great songs whether you danced to them or just listened. They represented freedom and it would do well alot of narrow-minded people to just listen to the joy and fun they represented and gave us.Free Music Review: The Best of the Village People.

I WAS SO HAPPY TO ADD THIS C.D. TO MY COLLECTION. I FELT SO HAPPY WHEN I SAW IT IN THE STORE, BECAUSE I WAS A VILLAGE PEOPLE FAN. I REMEMBER THE GREAT TIMES I HAD IN PARTIES, DISCOS AND ANY EVENT WHERE THEY PLAYED THEIR SONGS. THEY WERE SO ORIGINALS. I ALSO USED SOME OF THEIR SONGS FOR PRESENTATION OF MY DANCING GROUP BACK THEN. I GAVE IT FOUR STARS, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT INCLUDE SOME OTHER SONGS THAT WERE MY FAVORITES, LIKE "MY ROOMATE", "I WANNA SHAKE YOUR HAND", "UP AND DOWN" AND "CITIZENS OF THE WORLD". I HOPE TO SEE ANOTHER C.D. INCLUDING OTHER SONGS THAT WERE NOT CONSIDERED THE VERY BEST, BUT WERE REALLY GOOD AND HAD POSITIVE MESSAGES. I RECOMMEND YOU TO BUY IT.
