Free Music Review: What Christmas is all about (for me)
Hit: 5 Stars

A Charlie Brown Christmas is one of the few Christmas shows that actually got it right. The music that Vince Guaraldi recorded for it has taken on a life of its own. Christmas Time Is Here has become a standard now and deserves to be. Sadly, Vince left us in the mid 70's before the cartoon and the music really became a cherished classic and I hope he knows how special this recording is to me and many, many others. Skating is like a 3 minute trip to another world and his version of The Christmas Song is among my top 3 favorite versions. This is the most relaxing beautiful Christmas music you could ever want to hear. You can forget about the overblown tripe that the so called "music elite" puts out now, this is the real deal.

And please, everyone remember Charles Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts gang, in your prayers tonight. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and needs our support. Get well soon Sparky.

Free Music Review: Vince Guaraldi's wonderful music, all in complete form.
Hit: 5 Stars

I don't think I need to familiarize potential customers with the TV special "A Charlie Brown Christmas," for which this soundtrack was composed, except to say that it remains one of my all time favorite Christmas stories.
How nice it was to be able to listen to the entire soundtrack, without cuts, dialog, or commercial breaks.
The tasteful jazz from Guaraldi is simply beautiful, and there are some songs that are simply perfect for the Christmas theme, and one that ANYONE will know instantly, that being the fantastically infectious "Lucy and Linus."
"Christmas Time is Here" is terrific, with real kids singing and not some adults doing falsetto.
And, of course "Hark the Heralds Sing" is such a great closer.
Trust me, if you are looking for a CD to put on for Christmas, or even when you want some music to make you smile, I highly recommend this one.
Amazon's shipping was, as always, within a week.

Free Music Review: The best memories of Christmas - EVER - if you're over 30...
Hit: 5 Stars

By the way, the CD being reviewed here is the 1988 Fantasy version.
DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT BUY THE 1987 Fantasy version.
It only contains 11 songs, and for some mysterious reason OMITS the 12th song called "GREENSLEEVES." Be careful when you buy!
Anyway...
I have been lucky to have been born at the end of the baby boom, but as a child this was it for me around Christmas time - a lit REAL tree in the corner, with GLASS ornaments passed down from the generations, presents dropped off a few nights early by relatives, and this - Vince Guaraldi's piano rumbling out of our TV on WBBM channel 2.
All the songs have meaning, and is a marker for the show. This was pure and simple Christmas to me, and even though now my 16 year old never got to experience the same thing, this music takes me back and makes the fuzzy memories become clear, fond and happy.

Free Music Review: This is a fine CD and an essential holiday recording
Hit: 5 Stars

I usually can't wait for late November to roll around so I can pull this jewel off my shelf. Of course, hearing the first sounds of "O Tannenbaum" evoke all of the childhood joys, anxieties and memories of Christmas. But as an adult, I appreciate the exquisite musicianship and emotions that coarse through this album. The depth of Guaraldi's treatments of such classics such as "The Little Drummer Boy" and "The Christmas Song" is stunning, and some songs, such as "Christmastime is Here" (instrumental) and "Greensleeves" are at times heartbreaking. Guaraldi's set captures the reverence of the holiday and the essence of jazz perfectly.

This CD contains some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard, anywhere. Do yourself a favor: add this to your collection and play it often. November is just around the corner.

Free Music Review: One of my all time favorite christmas albums
Hit: 5 Stars

The songs on this Cd is what made me a Vince Guraldi fan. Like many of the reviewers I was raised watching peanuts and a charlie brown christmas has always been my favorite. To this day whenever it's on I make sure i'm in front of the TV to watch it. Tht Vince Guraldi trio, which doesn't get much credit for the music they did outside of the peanuts specials is excellent. From the opneing track O tannenbaum a swinging jazz version of Oh christmas tree to their version bluesy version of the jazz standard Greensleeves this Cd is a pure pleasure to lisen to. I never tire of listening to it. I could probably drone on about how great this Cd is (which it is) but I wouldn't add anything new that hasn't been said by any of the other reviewers. This is the perfect CD for a christmas or jazz lover, it's also a great introduction to the music of Vince Guraldi.
