Free Music Notes for Dominator

Free Music Review: A LITTLE DIFFERENT...BUT TOTALLY WASP!!
Hit: 5 Stars

BLACKIE is back for a new instalment of what true metal sounds like.
I've been listening to WASP since the WASP album,
I even saw them live on the "LAST COMMAND" tour back in the 80's.
WASP has always been a band that does it their own way,
if your going their way great if not there's the highway.
I would say to like this album you have to be a true WASP fan.
Come to think of it WASP reminds me of Rock-Opera, they keep coming
out with these Epic type of rock albums.
Not that they're not good, but it not what WASP started out doing.
But again as time goes on all things change and you either adapt or
there's the highway.
I rate this CD a 8 from 1to10!!

Free Music Review: It's called Dominator, not Dominatrix, cause Blackie's Got Serious Stones!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

What do you do when you're a full-heavy-metal-51-years-of-age, have had two subpar releases that in truth should have been a single disc, and want to prove that you're the toughest and wickedest rocker on the planet? You release Dominator. In truth, this is another of Blackie's rock operas. The good part is that it doesn't feel like one. We believed in Jonathan and were glad to hear Chainsaw Charlie get his. And we loved parts of the Neon God (there's no better all-balls tune than "Asylum #9). But this is a smooth and flawless concept album that rocks you, lets you think for a minute or two, and then rocks you to a grand finale. You're blistered, healing, and then burned alive. Even the ending, normally a rockabilly-metal tune is ratcheted up about five notches. "Mercy" is about love as a violent, full body contact attack and a great opening song (where the heck did Blackie get the ultra-cool, literary line "It's hurly-burly now!"?? Wow). The next tune just keeps it going and, in part penitent, wonders why we "feed [our] children through the hell-bent war machine" and replies: Because "no nearer to God, we got a long, long way to go." In a rhetorical move that's scary in its truthfulness, Blackie then asks, what can save us and says: you got it, "Gasoline." The rest of this album is just like that. It's as wicked as we ever wanted W.A.S.P. to be. Even the ballad, "Take Me Up," is a hard-rocking scream for love rather than anything like those near-begging turned we got on the last cd. I could talk about every song. But there's no point. They're all very good. Trust me. They rock hard. But, okay, "The Burning Man" is an absolute killer. Everybody's talked about this cd being anti-Bush. And it is. Even in the liner notes. But once you make it through this, you'll probably agree that Blackie's got it right. Because he d**n sure has the music right. This is W.A.S.P. finding the perfect balance between "The Headless Children" and "Dying for the World." There's not one weak song on this cd. They guys are back in form. LAST NOTE: My cd has a track called "Burn" listed that is not actually on the cd. I'm wondering if this is a cover of the Coverdale song? If anyone knows, please put it in a review. There's also been talk of a French import that has new live material, but I've contacted sellers in France over and over and haven't found any cd that has new material. The Russian import has live material that's simply a new selection of old stuff from the reissues. There's also a very cool version of this with a 3-D cover.

Free Music Review: Better than the last 3 Cd's
Hit: 4 Stars

Blackie continues his political fascination with yet another negative outlook on America and it's political agenda. I can remember a time when rock n roll was about women, sex, and just having a good time. Blackie has been all doom and gloom on the last 3 discs. However, I have been a fan since the beginning and I still shell out my $15 for each new CD. This one was worth the extra cash, (since it was an import) The songs are better than his previous efforts and I am happy with the songs albeit the list is short. It just would be cool if Blackie let loose one more time!

Free Music Review: Blackie Lawless Certified Lyrical Genius
Hit: 4 Stars

Ok, Ok, I'll admit it, I am a HUGE fan of Blackie Lawless. I feel he is an enormously under-rated songwriter/lyricist. I'm not referring to the very early days of W.A.S.P. [Animal F*** Like A Beast], but basically everything he's done from "The Headless Children" forward. I'd have to exclude "Helldorado" from the list also. Blackie has no trouble writing songs with a social commentary, and he's damn good at it. Anyone who has not heard this CD, has no idea how far Lawless has come as an artist from the days when he would throw raw meat into the crowd.
The Crimson Idol, The Neon God parts 1 & 2, Still Not Black Enough and now Dominator reveal the true genius of this man. From the opening chords of "Mercy", you know you're in for a good time. My personal favorite on this disc is "Take Me Up". I love people who write and perform with emotion and passion, and Blackie tops my list. Sad thing is, Blackie will probably never receive the credit he deserves as a songwriter.
If you like any of the aforementioned W.A.S.P. titles I've mentioned, then Dominator is a must own !!
