Free Music Review: do I like WASP or not?!

Way back in 1984 when I heard WASP's "Animal" I knew I liked this band and wanted to hear more. The music was rippin' and the lyrics were flat out hysterical (not to mention multiple F bombs in a song on commericial FM radio - I had to get this record)! Well thankfully Animal is now on WASP's self-titled debut while for years it was only available as a single. I really like WASPs guitarists, and Blackie has his moments, but for me WASP was never on the same high level as their competition like Motley Crue and Ratt. After years of owning only The Last Command and First Blood Last Cuts I was excited to finally pick up their debut on CD. However, for me it just didn't live up to my expectations. The four best songs (Animal, I Wanna Be Somebody, L.O.V.E. Machine, and On Your Knees) are all found on the previously mentioned First Blood compilation, which also contains more other great WASP songs over their studio releases in my opinion. If you want to get some WASP I recommend picking up that best of collection, and if you must have a regular release Last Command is much better than their self-titled.
