Free Music Notes for WWE AnthologyFree Music Review: A Generations Worth of Music Hit: 5 Stars
WWE Anthology collects nearly 20 years worth of music from the World Wrestling Federation, now World Wrestling Entertainment. The collection is divided into 3-discs by "era." Disc 1, "The Federation Years" collects "old-school" WWF music from the 80s to mid-90s. Disc 2, "The Attitude Era" collects the more recent music of the late 90s. Disc 3, entitled "NOW!" collects the latest themes of current WWE superstars and events. The songs themselves are a VERY diverse mix of superstar entrance themes as well as themes for various PPVs and other wrestling events. Liner notes are written by Jim Johnston, WWE's noted and prolific composer who wrote the vast majority of the music. As an Anthology set this collection does contain, by large, all the major songs you'd expect. It is not perfect though. Some of the songs included here are a bit questionable and there are some noteworthy songs missing. Overall though, I believe Johnston was looking to share a nice variety of the work he has done and in this he is successful as just about everything from major superstar themes to minor superstar themes to PPV and video package songs are included here. Overall, this collection is perfect for any fan who has ever followed the WWF from the 80's boom period with Hulk Hogan up to now. The theme songs for just about EVERY major superstar who has stepped foot in the WWF is in this collection. Here are the tracks in this Anthology Set: Disc 1: The Federation Years 1. WWF Signature 2.
