The acting was emotional and impressive, the singing was amazing and the movie was chilling and enjoyable. In fact, I can't stop watching it - it's like a train wreck everytime it comes on. My parents dragged me when I was a young child to a Johnny Cash/June Carter concert. As much as I hated the fact they couldn't get me a sitter, or leave me at someones house - I am truly touched now at the backstory to this concert I didn't want to go to, but enjoyed nonetheless. Johnny would have been proud of this outstanding musical tribute to his legacy. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon showcase some of his best tunes, and it's a real treat to have their vocal performances from the movie. Most Cash fans will already have his legendary original versions, so it wasn't necessary to present us with another "greatest hits" type package. After seeing the movie, I found this soundtrack a perfect companion piece to it, and I think it was perfectly put together. Great job Joaquin and Reese!Free Music Review: Better than Johnny!

I also own Johnny Cash's greatest hits. I think this is better. Joaquin Phoenix sounds more like Cash than Cash himself. He has an energy that often comes during live performances that makes the music much more interesting. Reese Witherspoon gives a fine singing performance for a talented actress. Interesting, one of my favorite songs on the CD is Waylon Payne channeling Jerry Lee Lewis. I am not even a Lewis fan, but found this performance outstanding. The movie is also good, but the Soundtrack is better!

Now look, im a Cash and Carter fan. I got the cd's and I love the music. But anyone that can listen to this cd and say that Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are not better there nutz. They simply make these songs better. THERE VOICES ARE AMAZING! Now if you like country music, then you should agree. No touching the icon status of Cash or Carter. And nobody can say they didnt write these songs. They are there songs. But trust me, if you havet o buy a cd of these songs, get the movie version. It sounds amazing!Free Music Review: walk the line

After going to the show and watching the movie on Friday night, I went out and bought the cd on Saturday. I think Reese and Joaquin do an exceptional job of singing, especially considering they are not singers in the true sense. There are always going to be people who are not happy with the singing, maybe would have preferred lip syncing, but that would have taken away from the movie I think. I have a new found respect for Johhny Cash after seeing this movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone.
