Free Music Notes for Rebel SweetheartFree Music Review: DualDisc Defective Hit: 4 Stars
First of all, let me say that the music is excellent, in line with what the other reviewers are saying on this page. My problem is with the DVD side of the DualDisc. It is supposed to have some videos of some older Wallflowers material. However, when I select "Videos" it takes me to the "Catalog" section, which is basically an ad for other discs in the band's catalog. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this glitch. I have tried it on three different players and the problem is consistent.
Free Music Review: Not their best but good Hit: 4 Stars
I have been a wallflowers band since "Bringing Down the Horse" and have bought every alblum on release day since. Rebel, Sweetheart is an display of how the band has "grown-up" a little in my view. Although the sound is still the same as previous alblums, there seems to be more to the lyrics than ever before. There are no standout hits in my opinon on this one, but all the songs are very good. Definitly worth picking up. Songs 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9 tend to be my favs.
Free Music Review: Intelligent and mature rock Hit: 4 Stars
With Rebel, Sweetheart the Wallflowers have continued to push their music ability to new levels. The CD is filled with musicality, opposed to being the bland noise on most radio stations. Jakob Dylan's unique songwriting abilities shine brilliantly with this album; my favorite is #10, "Nearly Beloved." Just as his lyrics always are, they are thought provoking and intelligent. This band isn't out to sell themselves out to climb the charts. I highly recommend it.
Free Music Review: Good Development Hit: 4 Stars
I have been a Wallflowers fan for 10 + years since their debut album. I have seen them in concert a few times. So, I am a fan. This album is good. I don't think it will win record of the year, but it is good. Dylan's voice is solid and easy to listen to, and the guitar riffs are tight and well done. This CD is worth buying, or at least downloading the songs you like. I would give it a rating of B - B+ not bad at all! JVD
Free Music Review: Their best album yet! Hit: 4 Stars
Straight up rock and roll. How refreshing! No need to critique each song as they're all good. This album is well conceived, well executed, and well produced. What sets this offering apart from the Wallflowers' previous releases are the added layers of vocals and accompaniment. It's a richer sound without compromising its rock and roll roots. One listen and you'll be hooked.
