Free Music Notes for Stand in the FireFree Music Review: Awesome Hit: 5 Stars
I had the privalidge to see Mr Zevon play live twice. Once in the early eighties at UMass Amherst soon after he was out of detox. I saw him live again at a small venue in Boston Back in 1993. He was one of the finest musicians I ever saw perform in front of an audience. The best was the small venue in Boston where he was able to talk to everyone in the house. In both his music was just as touching. I'd say you'd e doing yourself a favor to get this album and experience what a musician was like before lipsynching and choreographed dance groups came along.
Free Music Review: This Album Will Rip Your Lungs Out!! Hit: 5 Stars
I'll keep this short and sweet. Stand In The Fire may be the finest live album ever made. Virtually every song exceeds it's studio version, and during Zevon's five nights at LAs Roxy, the then clean and sober Zevon proved that he could "rock the place down". From the scintillating opening riffs of "Stand In The Fire" to the searing "Lawyers Guns and Money", Zevon holds court in front of a fantastic band featuring guitarist David Landau. Trust me on this one, or I'll kill ya!
Free Music Review: Full out all on brilliance - live! Hit: 5 Stars
This is how a live album should be done. It's fantastic, electrifying, and hard to only listen to it once when you put it on. This shows just what a musician Zevon was. The passion that comes over is astonishing and does his great songs justice. This CD is more like an experience - I strongly, strongly recommend it.

Free Music Review: Warren Zevon at his touring peak Hit: 5 Stars
I saw Warren Zevon live during this time period, about 1980. He was energetic and had an excellent live group behind him that was really tight. This CD has those same qualities. I think David Landeau played lead on his Excitable Boy LP and he plays lead for this band. You can tell by the way he plays the leads here compared to the Excitable Boy album. Excellent song selections. I wish Warren wasn't afraid of going to the doctor or maybe he'd still be with us.
Free Music Review: They sound like they're having so much fun... Hit: 5 Stars
Buy this CD-it's infectious. I especially like "Bo Diddley's a Gun Slinger" and the ad-libbed version of "Mohammed's Radio". The band is very good as well.
Great WZ before he became older, wiser (maybe) and a better singer. Also get Learning to Flinch for a totally different side of this complex, very talented and very underrated performer/writer. This one is more fun but LTF is a better showcase of his musical ability.
