Free Music Review: Can't deny the power of Weezer...
Hit: 5 Stars

Everybody's musical tastes are vastly different, so I want to preface this review with this: I have really enjoyed all of Weezer's albums thus far, and "Maladroit" is no different. I think it's really cool when a band (or a frontman, in this case) has the guts and the "who gives a darn" attitude to just do what makes them (him) happy. As long as Rivers Cuomo is writing music and putting it out there for people to listen to, good for him. Bringing the guitar talents of Brian Bell, ultimate drummer Pat Wilson, and new (and I'd say a great addition) bassist Scott Shriner along for the ride makes Weezer one of the best bands making music and touring today.

All of the "Maladroit" songs are ultra catchy with awesome guitar hooks. I'm no guitarist, but I know that these are some of the best riffs ever to land on planet rock. "American Gigolo" is crunchy and "Keep Fishin'" has a great chorus. "Dope Nose" still makes no sense, but I find myself humming it at random moments. "Death and Destruction" is a wonderful smooth, slow jam. "Burndt Jamb" is my current favorite, and I've woken up with "Fall Together" lodged in my brain for three days now.

I wouldn't want to put Weezer in some category and say "Only people who like this kind of music are going to enjoy this album," because I genuinely think that rock music is for everyone. It's up to you whether you buy "Maladroit" or not, just listen to Rivers on "American Gigolo": "If you hate this, I can't blame you." Like it or not, Rivers is doing what he wants to, and I'm glad to be listening in.

Also, as sort of a post script, the little mini-movies on here by Karl Koch are cool, though if you're a frequent viewer of weezer.com, you've probably seen them all. The movies, the fact of the lyrics being in an actual booklet with pictures and things (instead of just a liner with titles), and the numbering (of the first 600,000) make this album a little more interactive and enjoyable in those respects than the previous three by Weezer. ROCK ON!

Free Music Review: ANOTHER Great Album From Weezer
Hit: 5 Stars

This is Weezer's Fourth Album, and one of my favorites. It has a rougher feel than their previous album (The Green Album), which came out only a year before Maladroit. On to the tracks:

AMERICAN GIGOLO 4/5: It has a cool intro guitar part and a nice catchy chorus. DOPE NOSE 5/5: This is the first single from Maladroit and one of my favorites. The chorus is super-cool and the guitar part is awesome. KEEP FISHIN' 4/5: This is a good song. The chorus is pretty powerful and catchy and the guitar has a cool pounding feeling. TAKE CONTROL 4/5: This is a pretty good song. The vocals seem kind of slow for the backround music, but I still like it. DEATH AND DESTRUCTION 4/5: This is a nice slow song. It has a cool quiet guitar part during the verses. SLOB 5/5: This is a really cool song. I love the intro guitar part and Rivers sings it perfectly. The lyrics are awesome and the chorus is extremely catchy. BURNDT JAMB 5/5: I LOVE this song. The guitar part is so cool and (once again) Rivers sings it perfectly. The solo is really cool too. SPACE ROCK 4/5: This song is not even two minutes long, but its pretty good. Pretty catchy. SLAVE 5/5: This is supposedly going to be the second single from Maladroit according to the sticker on the album. Its really catchy and powerful. FALL TOGETHER 5/5: The guitar playing in this song if so cool. The vocals rules and the lyrics are really catchy. POSSIBILITIES 5/5: This is another really great song. It reminds me of "Photograph" from the Green Album for some reason. I love the lyrics. LOVE EXPLOSION 5/5: The chorus and verses from this song rule. Either this or Burndt Jamb is my favorite song from Maladroit. DECEMBER 4/5: This is a really good song to. The lyrics are very well written.

That wraps up my review of Maladroit, the new Weezer Album. Buy it! If you like this try Good Charlotte, Goldfinger, or Smash Mouth. Thank You.

Free Music Review: there back for real
Hit: 5 Stars

Well as you know many people have criticized the Green Album, saying that its way too short and its not good and all this [stuff]. Well i guess they have a reason to say that but then they are not true weezer fans. That cd is a good cd, but i think taht they were just trying to get their fan base back after being off forever. it was just the spring training for the real deal. and the real deal is this cd. i downloaded the cd off of kazaa a month ago, and the songs seemed alright but they were very raw and predictable. On the final copy they have added several key guitar additions, vocal additions and subtractions, and over have made this a great cd. I think taht this cd is a blend of all three previous. it has some of those very poppy moments from the green album, but then it has its hard moments with great lyrics like pinkerton, and it has that all around fun sound of the blue album. I dont think that they could have done any better trying to make this cd. This will definitely shut up those so called weezer fans who knocked the green album. the first 4 songs are fabulous. the introduction to american gigolo is an adrenaline pumper, and then its great chorus makes this an allaround great song. I didnt like dope nose at first, but they made some changes and now i like it alot. Keep fishin is great, i love teh chorus. Tehn what can i say the rest of the cd keeps on this pace all througout. December is agreat slow ending. See a similarity, only in dreams, butterfly, both slow songs to end great cds. overall go gte this cd, i wouldnt compare it to pinkerton or weezer blue because its just different. More like pinkerton though. But you will find out because u have to buy it.

Free Music Review: (more of 4 and a half star) welcome back weezer
Hit: 5 Stars

finally weezer are back with an album which blows green out the water. Now the green album was pretty lame for weezer so i had high hopes for this cd. First off the solos are great, they dont just follow the vocal line line all of trhe green albums solos. This cd is just as good as blue but not as good as pinkerton. Make sure u check it out.

american gigalo - 7/10 nice opener for the cd, sets the mood and is has a surprizingly heavy opening riff.

Dope nose - 6/10 i find this song really cheezy although it has a cool solo, this song should defanatly not have been the first single.

Keep fishin - 10/10 my fave song on the cd, very catchy should defanatly be next single. Awsome, totaly blows my mind.

take control - 9/10 cool riff although it is nearly the same as that riff on the spageti incedent cd by guns n roses. Cool song though.

death and destruction - 5/10 find this song boring, shouldnt have been on the album, slow and doesnt go anywhere.

slob - 9.5/10 this is a fast catchy song, has rivers best ever singing in.

burnt jamb - 10/10 sorta has that island in the sound sound in the verse and the chorus will will blow you away my second fave song on the album

Space rock - 7/10 cool song nothing too special though

slave - 7/10 another good song but nothing that makes u wanna put it on repeat for the next day.

fall together - 10/10 awsome rocker type of song

possabilates - 9/10 fast rocking song follows on great from fall together

love explotion 9/10 - catchy song, another example of great singing.

december - 8/10 a balady sort of song, catchy once again.Reminds me of smile.

Over all a great cd. Highly recomend getting this, pinkerton and blue.
december -

Free Music Review: Less emo, more variety . . . more Weezer
Hit: 5 Stars

Speaking about this album, Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer for the group, Weezer, said, "I let it all hang out." Brain Bell, lead guitar, said Rivers had become a "beast." This album is the followup to the highly anticipated Green Album, and after selling more than 1.3 Million copies of that album, the band turns to the same old classic Weezer sound, with a little more variety. In order to get a large audience for their Green album, Weezer had to use a happy, pop-punk sort of style that could be described as Emo. The new album, Maladriot, is more edgy than the Green album, but still has the plain rock band lyrics. It provides a lot more variety as well, with soft songs like Death and Destruction as well as harder songs like Dope Nose, which has reached as high as number nine on the Billboard modern music charts.

The CD, however, pulls together sweet guitar solos reminiscent of the Blue album, a little pop-emo styling from Green, and a dash of the feedback-full Pinkerton, giving it a tastefull, well done album. The band has started on their fifth record, which will look to be a lot like this one, so for a preview of upcoming events, this is the CD to go to. The band also got a new bass player, Scott Schriner, whom I met at a concert, and is definitely a great addition to the band.

Also, as an added bonus, the CD is enhanced and gives you six videos of Weezer live in concert and one of Pat Wilson, the drummer, doing the luge on a skateboard in Detroit (which is hilarious). The music alone is worth it, so the extra videos are well worth the average cost of about [money] for the CD. This record has a lot more feeling than the Green album and is sure to please all. Enjoy the music.
