im not sure what makes this album "bad" according to those who gave it a low ranking. there really isnt much of an explanation for it other than just preferences. this sounds like weezer. you can hear their styles and so forth. the other guys contributed more vocally, especially lead vocals.
i have thoroughly enjoyed this album over and over. all the songs are really good.

This album is just absolutely wonderful down to the last detail. For the first time since Pinkerton, Weezer has put out a record with all songs being of equal brilliance and importance. Songs such as, "The Greatest Man...", and "The Angel and the One" stand out over all others, but each song has a value all it's own. Buy this album immediately!Free Music Review: Deluxe worth it!

I made the mistake of reading a few customer reviews before I bought this and was pretty scared of what I would hear. Not anymore. What a great album! Yes, it's different, but that is what I love. I do not understand all the negative reviews - this album is great! Songs are catchy, lyrics are funny, and it is just an overall fun CD. Don't let the nay sayers keep you from purchasing this album. This is actually one of my favorites so far from 2008.Free Music Review: Simply Excellent

Probably not their best, but it's up there. As other reviewers have stated, it seems like they've recaptured some of their early sound. It's really totally worth picking up. The Deluxe version has 4 additional songs which are frankly worth it.
