Free Music Review: Definately Al's best work.
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are looking for an entertaining album, look no further than Al. I fell in love with "Running with Scissors" almost a year ago, and since that time I've accumulated (and thoroughly enjoyed) a majority of his previous albums. As a hardcore fan, I can honestly say that this is definately Al's best work. Even if you're not very familiar with Weird Al, I'm positive you'll still enjoy it.

Couch Potato- This is a great song. Definately one of Al's best parodies to date. He really knows how to reproduce that authentic rap feeling while still being funny.

Hardware Store- All I can say is... wow. This song is absolutely amazing. Very catchy and EXTREMELY fast (the fastest lyrics I've ever heard... I love it!) Kudos to Al on this one. It's one of my all-time favorites. Pure genius.

Trash Day- Not my favorite song on the album (I'm sure it has something to do with me being tired of the original) although I got a kick out of some of the background voices.

Party at the Leper Colony- Not as catchy or witty as I had originally expected, however I was not terribly disappointed.

Angry White Boy Polka- This compilation seemed to drag a little more than his previous polka medleys. Well-done, nonetheless.

Wanna B UR Lovr- Need a pickup line? After listening to this song, you'll have more than enough. Very funny!

A Complicated Song- I love this one! I was literally laughing until my stomach hurt. Great lyrics!

Why Does This always Happen to Me?- Also one of my personal favorites! You MUST hear this song. It is absolutely hilarious. Oh, and Ben Folds does a nice job on the piano!

Ode to a Superhero- A very witty parody of Billy Joel's "Piano Man." I love it when Al does parodies of old classics. It's like hearing the song all over again for the first time... or something like that.

Bob- Completely nonsensical and nearly impossible to comprehend. It's as if Al was making it up as he went along. Very strange.

Ebay- Personally, I'm not too fond of the Backstreet Boys, but Al can make their songs tolerable.

Genius in France- If you're like most people I know, you'll realy enjoy this 9-minute French bash-o-rama! I really enjoyed this one. Some people may take offense to this song, but, of course, it's all in the name of fun!

Overall, I was not disappointed in this album in the least. In fact, my expectations were exceeded, and I would recommend this album to anyone looking for a little fun!

Free Music Review: Excellent CD
Hit: 5 Stars

Like many of the other reviewers, I grew up with Weird Al in 3D, and listened to Weird Al into the later 80s, but stopped after the 90s began. I had heard his stuff in the 90s, but I didn't want to collect it. However, I asked for Poodle Hat for Christmas, because I wanted to hear his take on modern rock.

I was VERY pleasantly surprised!

I'm not going to dwell into why I liked this or that song, as this information has been covered well in the other reviews. I will say this: Al is very familiar with how eBay works, and it shows in his lyrics. This makes it more than just a "throwaway" song.

Secondly, a song like "Complicated Song" is hilarious. But I wonder if it will suffer the same fate as Al's previous parodies, especially from the 1980s. When people stop listening to "Complicated" by Avril Levigne, will they also forget Al's version? For example, who remembers "Eat It," and who remembers "I Think I'm a Clone Now?"

I really wanted to talk about "Genius in France." Many of the reviews on this board don't get this song at all. What I've read in other reviews is that it's a song about French people.

It's actually a LOT more than that!

Not only does Weird Al parody songs, he also parodies styles of other artists, like "Bob." This isn't just a silly-sounding song, this is a parody of Bob Dylan's overall performance and song-writing style.

"Genius in France" is a parody of Frank Zappa. It's very obvious that Weird Al has listened to A LOT of Frank Zappa music, because this whole song is an amalgamation of many of the different styles Frank Zappa used throughout his musical career. Parody includes both voice, lyrics and instruments, and even song length (FZ's songs could last much longer than any conventional song). This is a dead-on and very respectable imitation of Frank Zappa. I was absolutely blown away when it started playing and I realized what it was. Great Googily Moogily!

Meanwhile, throughout the song is a story: an entertainer who is not very popular in the US has a huge following in France. That's basically the story, presumably with Jerry Lewis in mind.

A very clever song. Best parody of Frank Zappa I've ever heard. Any Frank Zappa fan would love this song, even if he hated Weird Al.

Free Music Review: Weird Al's Poodle Hat
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great CD. Funny, yet kind of gross. I'll do some short reviews right here.

1. Couch Potato - Parody of Eminem's "Lose Yourself." Funny, because the guy the song is about has memorized just about every show on the planet. 5/5

2. Hardware Store - Wow. Weird Al can talk really, really fast. I tried singing along - its really, really hard. Very funny, especially all the different items found in a store. 5/5

3. Trash Day - Spoof of Nelly's "Hot in Herre." I thought the original was kind of annoying, so I didn't really like this one. 2/5

4. Party at the Leper Colony - Kind of makes you squirmy, because the lyrics are all about various disembodied body parts. Funny, yet gross. 4/5

5. Angry White Boy Polka - Medley of various rock songs, all by "angry white boys", and accompanied by accordion. 5/5

6. Wanna B Ur Lover - Song of all cheesy pickup lines. Case in point: "I wish I was cross-eyed, so I could see you twice". Very, very clever and funny. 5/5

7. A Complicated Song - One of my favorites. He uses all the rhymes for "complicated" imaginable. Parody of Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" (as you can probably guess.) 5/5

8. Why Does This Always Happen To Me? A funny song about a guy who only thinks about himself. Pretty funny. Also with Ben Folds of Ben Folds Five. 5/5

9. Ode to a Superhero - Parody of Billy Joel's "Piano Man." "The Saga Begins"-esque. Summs up the plot of "Spider-Man" within 5 minutes. I laughed so hard at this one. 5/5

10. Bob - Very goofy. Sang exactly like Bob Dylan. If you can't get the lyrics, here's a clue: Read 'em backwards. Get it now? Very funny. 5/5

11. eBay - Parody of "I Want It That Way" by the (YUCK) Backstreet Boys. Very funny. About this eBay-obsessed guy who owns all the useless stuff humanly possible. 5/5

12. Genius in France - "Albequerque" of "Poodle Hat." About 9 minutes long. All about this really stupid guy who's brilliant in France. Good if you hate the French, if so many of us do nowadays. Hilarious lines. Example: "It's hard to keep the fans at bay/they say 'Sign my poodle, si'l vous plait". Changes tempo every minute. 5/5

Total, thats a 57/60. Pretty good - definently an A.

BUY IT!!

Free Music Review: Definitely the best ALbum
Hit: 5 Stars

I just bought this album 2 days ago and listen to it frequently.
First of all, I love the case design and CD design. And the lyric book's pictures. I also really like the CD photo with Al gulping the hole in the middle of the CD.
But that's nut the important part. The important part is the music. There are NO BAD SONGS ON IT(as compared with "Running with Scissors").

1. Couch Potato-
This song is a fabulous parody of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" and I think it's better than the original!

2. Hardware Store-
My favorite song. Sometimes I wonder if Al can really talk that fast without breathing in between...

3. Trash Day-
I don't listen to Nelly but I think Al's parody of "Hot in Here" is just great. "It's rotten, so rotten here..."

4. Party at the Leper Colony-
As gross as it may sound by the name, this song doesn't make you puke. Period. Just real fun.

5. Angry White Boy Polka-
Nice name, huh? I haven't heard many of the songs on here like with "Polka Power!" on "Running With Scissors" but it's a good combination of tunes that just seem to flow together.

6. Wanna B Ur Lovr-
This song is strange, yes, but it gives you some insight on how not to pick up a girlfriend. Funny.

7. A Complicated Song-
Hilarious rendition of Avril Lavigne's "Complicated." It goes from too much pizza, to a girlfriend who is a cousin, to a roller coaster that takes your head off. ^_^

8. Why Does This Always Happen to Me?-
Graphic, rude, and funny. Weird Al is so Creative...

9. Ode to a Superhero-
A great parody of Billy Joel's "Piano Man." It talks about Spider-Man and the whole story of the Tobey Maguire movie.

10. Bob-
All palindromes, put together in an order they rhyme in, and the result is (drum roll please)...music!

11. eBay-
This song's lyrics are so true!!! You always see useless stuff you'd throw away on eBay. Parody of Backstreet Boys' "I Want it That Way."

12. Genius In France-
About a man who is dumber than a box of hair, who goes to France and is considered a genius. makes fun of French folks, too! Anyway, it's a great song if maybe a little too long.

THIS ALBUM ROCKS!!! PLEASE BUY IT!!!

Ciao

Free Music Review: Remote Is Ready!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

After 1999's "Running with Scissors", 'Weird Al' Yankovic is back with a great new comedy album! Here you go:

Couch Potato(Parody of 'Lose Yourself' by Eminem)(10/10): "Remote is ready, eyes wide, palms are sweaty/ the Flintstones on the TV already/ Wilma & Betty..." Not Just cuz im an Eminem fan, but this ones will knock you down laughing! "You're gonna... Lose your mind, watching TV/"

Hardware Store (8/10): Al goes at lightning speed when he gets to naming 60 hardware items without taking a breath.

Trash Day(Parody of 'Hot in Herre' by Nelly)(10/10): This one matches my expectations of being hilarious with the name 'Trash Day'. You'll be rolling on the floor.

Party at the Leper Colony (4/10): No. This one isn't something to rave about... but funny either way.

Angry White Boy Polka (Polka Medley)(10/10): HAHAHAHAHAHAHA with songs like Disturbed's 'Down with the Sickness' and Limp Bizkit's 'My Way' to polka music, you've gotta laff.

Wanna B Ur Lovr (7/10): I like this one. It definitely deserves a
7. You'll see what i mean. "You must be Jamaican/ Because Jamaican me crazy/"

A Complicated Song(Parody of 'Complicated' by Avril Lavigne)(10/10): All the parodies seem to be funny so far!! Substituting the word 'complicated' with 'constipated', 'both related', 'decapitated', & 'seperated'... you have just GOT TO HEAR THIS ONE!

Why Does This Always Happen to Me (10/10): HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Talking about disasters and flipping them to "Why did they have to interrupt the Simpsons for this?"? Yes its funny. Don't deny me. It is. Just listen to them.

Ode to a Superhero(Parody of 'Piano Man' by Billy Joel)(10/10): Busting the 'Spiderman' movie! Wow!!!! HAHAHAHA!

Bob (6/10): SO STUPID!!!!! BUT WITH STUPID HUMOR!!!

eBay(Parody of 'I Want it That Way' by the Backstreet Boys)(10/10): the last parody! "What i bought on eeeeeeeeBay!" Better than the original. Actually... everything is.

Genius in France (10/10): About a retarded guy who's "A Genius in France". I think the humor is so smart here.
