Greatest Hits, Volume 1 are a collection of songs from his first five albums: Weird Al Yankovic, Weird Al Yankovic in 3-D, Dare to Be Stupid, Polka Party!, and Even Worse. Missing from the CD are: My Bologna and I Love Rocky Road. If you don't want to buy all five albums and just want to hear his most familiar tunes, then this is for you. Weird Al Yankovic - Greatest Hits, Volume 1 gets an AAAA++++.

Free Music Review: Parody Paradise

Weird Al's "Greatest Hits, Volume 1" lives up to its name. A collection of admittedly can't-listen-to-them-too-often hits, what you have here are some of the best examples of parody songs you'll find anywhere. A send-up of Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" ("Addicted to Spuds") and the original song "One More Minute" are gloom-busters of the best kind. Also included are hilarious takes on Madonna's "Like A Virgin," and Michael Jackson's "Bad" and "Beat It."
"One More Minute" is as dead-on a spoof of 50's angst/love songs as you'll ever find, right down to the sob in Al's voice. True, you can't listen to albums like this too often or they wear on you, but try taking it off the shelf every once in a while for a listen. It's almost guaranteed to brighten your day.

I purchased this about a year ago. I decided to write a review on it (something I seldom do for anything besides books) to share with others just how wonderful it is!Many adults, if they liked Rock And Roll as teens, know this man already. He takes popular songs (ie: Beat It by Jackson) and changes the words (ie: Eat It). The music sounds EXACTLY the way the original group(s) played them. Every now and then Weird Al changed just a bit, but obviously on purpose. Even the faint sounds few noticed in the original tunes are in these!
If you have never heard of this performer/singer, but have a great sense of humor, PLEASE listen to some of them. I believe Amazon.com allows their customers to listen to parts. Try it.
Free Music Review: Great songs,nothing new if you own all the original albums

Like the sequel, food album and TV album you won't find anything here you won't on the normal albums. There is really no point buying this if you have or are planning on buying the complete set of "Weird Al" albums. This album does have some of the best parody songs from the first few albums but is also missing some great ones like I Love Rocky Road, Yoda, Theme From Rocky XIII as well as heaps of brilliant original songs.
Only buy this if travelling and you are worried about someone stealing your complete collection or don't want to carry them. If not buy the original albums as you will end up buying them all anyway.
What is on here is brilliant but what is not is even more so.
