The What a Girl Wants soundtrack has a TON of different styles of music: pop, punk, and bittersweet love ballads. There are a few "unsavory" tracks on the album, but the good ones overpower them.

The slower, slightly depressing songs are the best on the album - Half Life (Duncan Sheik) is simply the best song I have EVER heard. It's beautiful, depressing, and inspiring at the same time. Leslie Mills' song Good Life isn't exactly a ballad, but it is a bit slower paced, and a good song, it takes a little while to get used to, but it's really cool. Ride of Your Life - John Gregory is another beautiful, inspiring song. Though the lyrics aren't as powerful as Half Life's, they are heartwrenching. I hadn't heard of John Gregory before, but I'll definately be looking for more music by him in the future. Now, on to Long Time Coming by Oliver James. Wow. He has an amazing voice, and it's such a pretty song (okay, he was the main reason I saw the movie...who knew he could sing too?). Once again, it's a sadder song - so's his other song on the soundtrack, Greatest Story Ever Told. Both are just awesome.

The faster songs are really good too, but they cant beat the ballads. Crazy (Meredith Brooks) is such a fun, crazy song. It's totally inexplainable, but totally awesome. The Donnas have a song on the CD too - Who Invited You? Another great, girly, in-your-face song.

There are two songs on the CD I don't like - I Wanna Be Bad (Willa Ford) ~ it fits the movie, but at the same time, it's annoying and innapproperiate. The other one is What's Yur Flava? - Craig David. It's not a bad song, but next to all the pretty ballads, it doesn't fit.

This CD is awesome, and I would buy it just for Long Time Coming and Greatest Story Ever Told, because (to my knowlidge, anyway) they aren't availabe anywhere else.
