Free Music Notes for Sky Blue Sky

Free Music Review: Beautiful!
Hit: 5 Stars

I listen to this CD every day and will for a LONG time to come! I love all Wilco records, but I have a special place in my heart for this one, for reasons I cannot divulge, but I have a good reason.

I love the title track, Jeff's voice is better than it's ever been, and it's an emotional record, full of just downright beautiful music. Also, for the fan who wants "rock", you've got Walken, Impossible Germany, Shake it Off, what more could you want? If you've never seen Wilco live, you must, a completed rewarding experience!

You won't hear a lot of the noise that was on the last two Wilco CD's, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or A Ghost is Born (both equally excellent records), this new one is quieter, but the lyrics and musicship are first rate. Wilco is the BEST american band today!! Highly recommended!

Free Music Review: Mature, Solid and Reliable
Hit: 5 Stars

It might be tempting for some to call this Wilco Lite, but don't be fooled by the laid back feel of this release. The yearning desperation is still there in Jeff Tweedy's vocals, and Nels Cline's guitar work is nothing short of amazing. Combined with the individual talents of the rest of the band, they hit another home run. This has to one of the most melodic and tuneful CD's in their catalog without the sound effect trappings of Yankee Hotel. I'll put this one beside Summerteeth and will enjoy it equally even if for different reasons. Standout tracks: Impossible Germany, Side With The Seeds, Hate It Here, What Light and On and On and On. But they are all great. Buy it, it's worth every penny. Thanks Wilco for carrying on the torch of those that came before you. Thanks for playing real music that matters.

Free Music Review: Fantastic
Hit: 5 Stars

As with everything I guess this is just a matter of taste.
Sky Blue Sky is to me a very solid album. Thats why I'm giving it 5 stars.
In this album you can hear a little of both worlds, their alter-country and more trendy edgy modern sound. Beautiful songs like side with the seeds are just full of harmony and beautifully conducted but with some spice, a great interlude!

On and On and On is also a fabulous song, very dreamy is like the perfect soundtrack for a urban theme if you get me.

My favorite song is Impossible Germany, it is about the fall of Hitler. This song is absolutely brilliant, it covers perfectly the whole idea of a song and has a killer sleek guitar solo.

One thing I guarantee you is that you wont be disappointed with his album.

Free Music Review: The elegance of simplicity - great songwriting, great recording
Hit: 5 Stars

Wilco's 6th studio release, Sky Blue Sky, is their most easily accessible album yet - song structures are complex and edgy, but recording is pure, warm and soulful. It also sees the debut of current guitarist Nels Cline, a refreshing and welcome addition to the band's sound. And he is good. Most songs are purely relaxed rock arrangements, but in true Wilco fashion, each is shaken apart at some point with some razor sharp edginess that takes the tune to a new creative realm that reminds me of why I love these guys. Wilco is brilliant. Jeff Tweedy is a masterful songwriter, and this is a truly enjoyable CD. GENRES: Lite Alt, Rock, Mellow Rock.

BUY IF YOU LIKE: Ryan Adams, Neil Young, Son Volt.
MUST HEAR TRACKS: "You Are My Face," "Impossible Germany," "Sky Blue Sky," "Hate It Here."

Free Music Review: absolutely stunning
Hit: 5 Stars

If you ever wondered what the Beatles would have sounded like if they had made an album after Abbey Road, pick up this album. Yes, it's that good. This album is simply amazing. It's just like The White Album -- a Paul McCartney song here (Either Way), a George Harrison song there (Impossible Germany), a Ringo Starr song here (Walken) and a John Lennon Song there (Please Be Patient With Me). It's an insanely fantastic record. And I wouldn't classify myself as a Wilco fan at all. I thought Being There was pretty good, Yankee Hotel was fairly good, Ghost is Born was not so hot... but Wilco have pulled it all together here. This album is addicting, infectious and absolutely stunning. I can't get enough of listening to this. Belive me... if you like Beatles' later work, you will absolutely love this album.
