Talk about an amazing event. Wynton Marsalis and Willie Nelson together for two nights. I wish I could have been there, but the CD is the next best thing. All the songs are good and the engineering is stellar.
One comment, this CD will not play on any of my Macs. This severely reduces my enjoyment of the music, since I often do play a CD via the computer, particularly if I don't want to compress something that's this good to an MP3.

It's a great band playing New Orleans traditional jazz, not just "two men with the blues." But I guess that's a better title. Willie is declaiming more than singing, but that's not a bad thing because (1) he's Willie, not Frank Sinatra, and (2) he's doing the traditional jazz thing of setting up the melody for the players. If you followed Willie here, you like and want to keep going in this direction, try Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Kid Thomas and Albert Burbank, as a start.Free Music Review: Dixieland Blues

Listen to this CD if you want your spirits raised. Both Willie and Win are just tremendous musicians - while neither really sings, their timing when speaking their words is second to none, and really complements the beat. I deal with a lot of foreigners every day, and most of them think Dixieland is THE American form of jazz - this CD is an outstanding contribution to recordings of the blues, of jazz and dixieland. This is THE BEST Willie Nelson selection in 30 years, it is too bad that no local stores carry it, or if they did they only received two copies........Wynton really blows life into this thing, I am going to buy some more of his stuff.
I don't care how you get your hands on a copy, JUST GET THIS ALBUM or CD, it is GREAT MUSIC, fun on every note and the sonic quality is outstanding, take it from an AUDIOPHILE, it made my system sing to it's fullest potential.

I love this CD. It's a great combination of Willie Nelson and good jazz. It's definitely "feel good" music. I've always liked jazz and Willie Nelson so I figured I'd like it, but it's even better and I play it all the time. Lots of good instrumental plus Willie's voice. I have recommended it to friends. Even my husband, who is not really a Willie fan and likes jazz sometimes, really likes it.
