Free Music Notes for Red Headed StrangerFree Music Review: Classic Willie Hit: 5 Stars
I've forever been impressed by the music of Willie Nelson. His songs ring true, but are rarely sappy.
That's why I truly appreciate this album. It is somewhat of a 'country opera' in the way 'Tommy' by the Who is a rock opera. It is a story about a preacher in the Old West, but words can't do it justice.
No huge songs except for 'Blue Eyes' which is excellent. Kind of short even with bonus material, but it is still a welcome addition to any collection.
No one sings spirituality, sadness, redemption and lastly, no one sings country like Willie Nelson. 'Red Headed Stranger' is a great cd.
Free Music Review: probably my favorite album of all time Hit: 5 Stars
This is probably my favorite album of all time. It isn't so much that one song stands out -- the whole album really does tell a story in a way that I've never seen before in an album. Also, Willie's vocals are at an entirely different level than almost anything else I've heard outside of jazz. In his own subtle way, he's like Frank Sinatra or Sarah Vaughn or Al Green. I defy you to listen closely to the way he sings "in a land that knows no parting" without starting to cry.
Even if you think you don't like country music, give this one a try. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: The Best Willie CD Ever!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is the Willie Cd that any music fan should get. The music is very simple without the usual over-production that Nashville used to ruin so many songs during this time period. Willie's vocals are fantastic. The "Red Headed Stranger" song is a classic along with other great tunes such as "Can I sleep in your arms tonight" and "Hands on the Wheel" (plus the #1 hit, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain)In your a fan of the current Top 40 pop, you either will completly hate this cd or you will finally expericence good music and will have your eyes opened.
Free Music Review: very very good album, suggestion though Hit: 5 Stars
first off this is a top shelf album, it amazes me every time i hear it, i don't really listen to country (and people i talk to say willie nelson doens't "count" as country but i really don't care), only one suggestion i can make though. find this album on vinyl. i have listened to my friends cd copy and my vinyl copy and granted the cd does have a few extra tracks but there is something about listening to this on vinyl, i think it may be the intermittent pops and such give it a much more organic feel. either way cd or vinyl you should purchase this album
Free Music Review: My Favorite Hit: 5 Stars
Of all the music in my collection (vinyl, 8track, cassette, CD, MP3, etc) this is the very best! RHS transcends country, rock, jazz, or gospel in my humble opinion. In the past few years, Willie has sped through his classic songs (I guess that I would be tired of them as well...), but this is a wonderful example of his unique talent for singing as well as his masterful ways around his "hole in the wall" Martin when they were burning a hole in his soul. Not to knock him live on the stage with family and friends. Willie is da man...
