Free Music Review: Female-fronted Symphonic Metal at it's Finest!!

Within Temptation is what all female-fronted rock bands aspire to be when they grow up, with "The Heart of Everything" being the primary case study.
Sharon den Adel has a *powerful*, top-notch voice that surpasses even that of Tarja Turunen of Nightwish (and blows Amy Lee of Evanescence out of the water), and the rest of the band puts a guitar-laden mix of symphonic metal that is unmatched by any band anywhere. Combined with powerful lyrics and powerful themes, this nearly cinematic mix comes together to make "The Heart of Everything" quite possibly the *best* album I have *ever* heard.
Stand-outs tracks include "The Howling", "Our Solemn Hour", "The Heart of Everything", "Hand Of Sorrow", "Stand My Ground", and "The Truth Beneath The Rose". I've traditionally considered an album to be worth buying if it has two stand-out tracks. This album has SIX, and nearly all of the other tracks are worth a listen as well.
*Highly* recommended. Any fan of female-fronted rock should buy this album today.
Free Music Review: A musical masterpiece

This is the album of the year. Every song in this album is amazing. It's clear that these guys put a lot of work and time on each and every song they write. The production values are over the top, and the song writing is phenomenal. Within Temptation makes most other rock bands sound bland, simple, and weak. The unslaught of instruments and melodies will overload your senses. The lyrics are poetic and passionate-just listen to "Forgiven" and try not to feel her pain. Sharon Den Adel is simply the best singer in the business. I've seen them in concert, and yes, she sounds as good as in the album. Every person I've introduced to Within Temptation has gotten hooked on them. With a singer like that, it's amazing these guys don't get airplay. I guess their music is simply too sophisticated for American radio. I just hope they don't dumb down their music to get airplay. Just do yourself a favor and buy this album, you'll be one of a select few to enjoy this masterpiece the rest of America is missing out on.Free Music Review: At the Pinnacle: Within Temptation

This is truly the breakout album for Within Temptation. It's smart. It's clever. It has fantastic melodies and fabulous lyrics. In a nutshell, THIS is what alternative/symphonic metal is all about. If you like thier early work, this will blow you away!

What Have You Done Now, the duet with Keith Caputo: Holy Cow - this song is not only an album best, but a genre best.
Frozen: Great melody and lyrics. The support music lends to a flawless mix of storytelling and emotion.
Our Solemn Hour: My favorite on the disc for it's heavy use of choir, symphony and chord changes. I sometimes get stuck on this song for an hour - YES, it's that good.
Hand of Sorrow: Brilliant piano opening, heavy use of choir and lyrically strong.
I haven't written a review in over a year, but this album was worth the write. Trust me, you won't go wrong!!
Free Music Review: A Masterpiece

This CD is astonishing, which is to be expected from an incredible band like Within Temptation. They've been huge in Europe for almost a decade, and it's about time they made it to America. The Heart of Everything exemplifies everything the band has worked toward since 1998. It is huge, epic, intense, beautiful, and spellbinding...pretty much everything you look for in a CD. The songs do not get tiresome even after dozens of listens (which I have done, believe me). And Sharon den Adel has the voice of an angel.
If you are a fan of Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, or any other music featuring a gorgeous female voice featured against music that rocks, buy this now. You may simply listen to it, awed by its beauty (like during the ballad "Forgiven"). But do not be ashamed if you find yourself rocking out to it with your speakers turned up as loud as they go (especially on "The Howling" and "The Heart of Everything"). Enjoy!
Free Music Review: Syphonic Awesomeness!

I've had Within Temptation on my wish list ever since I heard Sharon on the Avantasia "Metal Opera" album. I finally ordered Mother Earth, Silent Force, and The Heart of Everything. I come from a power metal background, but I have fallen in love with all of these albums.
Heart of Everything is one of the best CD's I've ever bought. There is zero filler, it's completely original and different than anything I've ever heard. Even the wimpy slow tracks are awesome, because her voice is so beautiful and captivating. I can't listen to anything else at the moment.
If you're checking these guys out for the first time, this is the album to start with.
I'm totally sold on this band, and I just wish that I had bought these sooner.
