Free Music Review: Favorite CD of All Time!

I bought this CD after hearing "Dangerous Mind" (which is actually on a different version of this CD, silly me). This was my first Within Temptation CD, and my introduction to whole genre of Symphonic Metal, which has come to be my favorite genre of music.
Not being used to the style, the first time I listen to this CD, I was disappointed. The only song I even noticed was "Angels". But I didn't hate it, so I thought I give it another try. I think I might have listened to it 2 or 3 times before it became my all time favorite CD. "Angels" remains one of my favorite songs on this CD, but I rated every song 5 stars in iTunes and they all have a play count over 20.
Sharon den Adel has an amazing voice, but it the awesomeness of her voice combined with beautiful lyrics and melodies that make this CD great. Listening to it the first time, I had trouble hearing the lyrics because Sharon sang so high, but once I adjusted my ears, it was perfectly understandable and enjoyable. I was really impressed with the lyrics, they were very interesting - many songs try to tell a story with their lyrics, but I was surprised at how good a story Within Temptation's lyrics managed to build. I'm not saying this is supposed to be an opera or anything, each song stands alone. But each song manages to transport you into it and it inspires the imagination. For example "Jane Doe" briefly transports you into the mind of a murderer haunted by memories of his victim. If you watch the music video for "Angels" the story the lyrics tell becomes clear (really, you can't tell without the visuals, it all seems metaphorical).
If you enjoy Nightwish, Within Temptation is similar, yet totally different. If you like Symphonic Metal, than you HAVE to try Within Temptation! If you have no opinion on Symphonic Metal, try Within Temptation anyway! My sisters all enjoy Within Temptation without having any particular interest in the genre.
