Free Music Notes for Woman on Top - Music From The Motion PictureFree Music Review: Excellent buy! Hit: 5 Stars
I keep congratulating myself for this purchase. By far I personally think this CD is one of the only two things that came with that forsaken movie. The first one was of course the super hot Penelope Cruz and the other was the music. I distinctly remember going to see this movie and starting to doze off until I heard the first song. Then I woke up! and so on and so forth. I kept going in and out of sleep in between songs. The fabulous singers in this album are all very able interpreters of Brazilian music. Congratulations to me!
Free Music Review: Great music! Hit: 5 Stars
I recently went to see this movie shortly after it opened, and despite the fact that the movie is by no means stellar (pleasantly sweet and rather cliche), what really struck me was the music. I purchased the soundtrack on the way home; that's how great it is. The collection of music contained on this CD is so good, I include it in the only three CDs that I love to listen to repeatedly, and have yet to tire of (see Facing Future by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole by Play by Moby). I rarely find CDs worth a 5-star recommendation.
Free Music Review: Lush and creamy Hit: 5 Stars
I haven't seen the film, but bought the CD after listening to a review on NPR. The music is so lush and enveloping, I can't stop listening to it. The Portugese washes over me, though I don't understand a word of it. And the music and rhythm makes me want to move and hum along. I especially enjoy the percussion. I've been listening to a lot of Cuban jazz lately (Chucho Valdes, etc.), and find this CD a very nice complement. Now I'm wondering if seeing the film might ruin the mood of the CD for me.
Free Music Review: Can Someone Fly Me to Brazil? Hit: 5 Stars
So two things kept popping up in my head while watching the movie: (1) I'm hungry and (2) I have to buy this soundtrack. After satiating my hunger, I bought the WOMAN ON TOP soundtrack. It's now found a permanent spot in my CD player--it's certainly great dinner party music. The album houses wonderful Brazillian-influenced tracks--Track 6 is one my favorite tracks. Let your hips move and let your mind dream of white sand and blue water and papayas! One of the best soundtracks I've listened to.
Free Music Review: I didn't know what Brazilian Music was until... Hit: 5 Stars
After seeing this movie and hearing the sensual and moving music of the film I had to have this CD. I wasn't dissapointed either. I never knew such a music genre existed, nor did I know what I was missing. This soundtrack was a great introduction to the sensuality, energy and emotional sounds that, i've heard, makes Brazilian music so wonderful. it's romantic and mellow, yet at the same time it makes me want to move and sway to the melody. I can't wait to hear more of this type of music.
