I've been lucky enough to follow James' career from his early days in the UK when he played small pub gigs in Leicester, UK.
I am totally amazed by his ability to reach out and touch your inner soul by making you feel the song is about you or your life. He has perception, wit and humour ... and never loses sight of his roots by making references to his home town. Above all, he lifts every single word off the paper in a way that only great singers do. 'Stay You' is the most well-known example here ... 'Could I Be' is another.
So many have drawn comparisons between his vocal style and some obvious comtemporaries. In truth, James Maddock is unique - in a world of manufactured boy bands and TV talent shows, he transports the listener to a world of real musicians with something to say.
He write great songs, with stories that are a part of your life - as much as mine. If you like adult contemporary rock, do yourself a favour and buy it.
