Free Music Notes for Wow Gospel 2007Free Music Review: Great! Hit: 4 StarsI really like the Wow 2007, the only thing I don't really care for is the 2nd CD, but the 1st one is great.
Wow Gospel 2007 Poster The WOW Gospel 2007 collection is much in the same vein of previous releases: Disc One features the best of more traditional acts while Disc Two spotlights newer talent and approaches. And much like its predecessors, the 2007 package has plenty of great music. Hang on, because the release kicks off quickly with Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers from their farewell concert with "The Blessing of Abraham," a live-wire effort if there ever was one. It's followed by the delightful bossa nova-tinged "Psalm 68 (Let Our God Arise)" from Kurt Carr, a master at blending musical styles. Karen Clark Sheard - the baby of the famed Clark Sisters - comes through strong with the beautiful "You Showed Me." Another highlight is Keith Wonderboy Johnson & the Spiritual Voices with "I Made It," a celebratory statement. Johnson has a unique arrangement style and a voice somewhat reminiscent of Dobie Gray. Disc Two starts off with fireworks from hitmakers Mary Mary doing "The Real Party (Trevon's Birthday)," a raise-the-roof chant spiced up with a sassy horn section. The great Yolanda Adams won't be denied with her "Victory," a proclamation of saving faith and deliverance. Other delightful highlights include Israel & New Breed's uplifting "Turn It Around" and Deitrick Haddon's convincing "Heaven Knows." And who would have imagined Nicole Mullen teaming up with 70s funkster Bootsy Collins? The duo's "Message for Ya" is guaranteed to bring a smile and a spring to your step. --Michael Lyttle More WOW Gospel WOW Gospel 2006 | WOW Gospel 2005 | WOW Gospel 2004 |
