Free Music Notes for 8 DiagramsFree Music Review: Six Years in the making - 5 stars Hit: 5 Stars8 Diagrams may be a long way from the hip hop revolution, however this a significant album which will not let the listener down on any of its tracks. Great vocals, lyrics that show more depth and awareness than ever before. I am sure they are going to add to their fan base. If u love the WTC check out Devin the Dude, Smoke Sessions Vol 1, congrats to him hitting billboard for the first time in his career with the first album released since leaving Rapalot.
Free Music Review: Now What!! Hit: 5 StarsBy far the Dopest album of the 2008 Season! From Campfire on down the list goes on n on..If you're not a TRUE Wu head then you're wasting ya time listening to this Masterpiese. Not only has RZA showed why he's the "Greatest" producer n Modern era, but he once agian show's how his East Coast Rhyme Schemes matches only for the Wu! All Members stepped their "A" Game up on this one right here! If you don't have this album by now..Send me an E mail, Ill buy it for you..Untill next time "Wu Tang Clan aint Nothin to @$&& With" Gone....
Free Music Review: Wu-tang where have u been? Hit: 4 StarsI thought they had given up, I guess not. I don't need to say much on this one cause it's Wu-tang and you'll buy it anyways. I really liked most of it and really didn't like some of it. I'd say a good three songs including the O.D.B. tribute were weak production wise. Yes I will always knock a Wu song with bad production because the RZA is a tremendous talent and should never make a bad beat (cause he's that good). Still I am happy to own the album and would recommend it to anyone. Since "Forever" I still like "The W" the most.
Free Music Review: THE RETURN OF THE WU Hit: 4 StarsTHIS ALBUM SCOPE WAS SO HIGH THAT PEOPLE WE ANTICIPATING THIS LIKE THE NEXT COMING OF.....ANYWAYS THAT'S HOW BIG IT WAS I MEAN MINUS ODB THE ALBUM HAS ALL THE MEMEBERS INCLUDING CAPPADONNA. RZA PROGRESSIVE STYLE OF PRODUCTION HAS CHANGED FROM GRIMY TO SLICK AND POLISHED. I THINK LYRICALLY RAE, DECK, METH AND U-GOD ALL SHINE THE MOST. I THINK EVEN THE GZA VERSES ARE THE ILLEST. THE ONLY DOUN SIDE IS NO FULL WU CUT SIMILAR TO PROTECT YA NECK AND WATCH UR MOUTH WAS THAT TRACK THAT GOT CUT DUE SAMPLE CLEARANCES. OVERALL THIS ALBUM COULD OF BETTER IF THERE WERE MORE TRACKS WITH GHOST, GZA AND DECK ON IT. AND ONE TRACK SHOULDA BEEN CUT WAS "SUNLIGHT" AND MAYBE "MY HEART GENTLY WEEPS" COULDA BEEN FLIPPED MORE RZA-ESQUE. OTHER THAN THOSE FLAWS THIS ALBUM STANDS ON ITS OWN IN THE WU DISCOPGRAHY AS A BETTER ALBUM THAN IRON FLAG (EVEN IRON FLAG WAS STILL DOPE) IT WOULD RANK AS THE 4TH BEST RIGHT BEFORE IRON FLAG.
STAND OUT TRACKS:
CAMPFIRE
RUSHING ELEPHANTS
TAKE IT BACK
GET THEM OUT YA WAY PA
WOLVES
GUN WILL GO
WEAKSPOT
WINDMILL
NOTABLES:
STICK ME FOR MY RICHES
UNPREDICTABLE
TAR PIT
LIFE CHANGES

Free Music Review: The reunion album they should have made a LONG time ago Hit: 4 StarsWu-Tang Clan's first album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) proved that they were one of the first posses of the nineties where every member actually had something to say. After that they all went the solo route, but then they came back with Wu-Tang Forever, and I was just about to pick it up when I discovered it in the bargain bins of many record stores -- then a lot of people told me that the album really wasn't as great as it could have been. And since the back-to-back albums The W and Iron Flag were pretty much the same album (followed by ODB's fatal overdose), I didn't know if the Clan would ever reunite again.
Well, they came back last year with 8 Diagrams, and I have to say that it's pretty damn good. It would to be too easy to say that this album is a welcome change from all the snap and crunk that's dominating the airwaves, but I will say that you shouldn't get tired of listening to this. I don't think I can top Daniel Spratlin's review, but I'll still say that my favorite track would have to be "Rushing Elephants", but other notables include "Stick Me for My Riches" and "Windmill". And "Weak Spot" is anything but. Even the necessary song about blasting, "Gun Will Go", kicks.
Another good song is "The Heart Gently Weeps", but for those that don't realize it, that's not really a sample of the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"; because Wu couldn't get clearance for the sample, it's instead Red Hot Chili Peppers' John Frusciante and George Harrison's son Dhani doing the licks (kinda like how Kanye West couldn't get clearance for a Lauryn Hill sample on "All Falls Down", so Syleena Johnson sang the verses instead). But as I said, the song still sounds fine, and Erykah Badu's chorus doesn't hurt either. But the samples aren't always arranged right, as the Curtis Mayfield sample on "Campfire" is far too off-tempo from the rest of the song (although both songs are dope otherwise).
Speaking of off-tempo, RZA's solo, the spiritual "Sunlight", has him pausing abruptly in the middle of or at the end of various bars, which kind of disrupts the flow of the song. And there are a few times where certain Wu members deliver unenthusiastic verses, like Masta Killa and U-God on "Get Them out Ya Way Pa" and even GZA on "Starter". By the way, the use of Kung-fu samples at the end of most of the tracks starts to get monotonous after a while.
One other thing I noticed is that this is another one of those posse albums where there isn't even one song that features every member in it. I realize that such a thing might be hard to do considering there are eight members in the Clan, but back when ODB was alive, they had no problem doing that on "Triumph", and Cappadonna was there too (and surprisingly, he's also back on HERE with a vengeance; check out the aforementioned "Campfire"). I thought they'd at least all be together for the ODB rememberance track "Life Changes", but Ghostface isn't on that song. Oh, well; Wu-Tang Clan will probably never make another 36 Chambers (some negative reviewers don't seem to understand that), but 8 Diagrams proves that they've still got stuff figured out.
