Free Music Notes for Wu Tang Iron FlagFree Music Review: Iron Folag Brothers Hit: 3 StarsWu-Tang releasing a new album a year after their last release came as a shock to many. I can't beleive this album only went gold. Hmm, let me see. LOUD records was nearing their end as a hip-hop brand (only a few manths later in 2002, LOUD folded.) This album was hardly promoted. Many fans think this is better than The W, but not me. Although Iron Flag is not a bad album, I think The W is slightly better than Iron Flag. Sure, this time they recorded this one in New York instead of California (as in their previous two albums, Wu-Tang Forever and The W). But, somehow I can tell that each Wu-Tang MC used the "punch-in the clock" method to recording an album, meaning that I can tell that they didn't lay their verses down together, but seperately, thus resulting in Iron Flag lacking that chemistry of "we having fun while making this album" sound. It just sounds like "we just making an album". There are no skits where they trully bug out, and at times this feels like some left overs from The W (which I heard some songs are). Don't get me wrong, Iron Flag is not a bad album, I just feel like it's their worst to date. We need a new Wu-Tang Clan album soon to close the book. These labels (i.e. Universal Records) better be offering some good money. If not, RZA knows what to do. Take it the independent route (either KOCH Records or Sanctuary Records or Nature Sounds).

Free Music Review: Not great like 36 Chambers, but better current radio stuff Hit: 4 StarsIt's ok that this CD isn't as ground breaking as 36 Chambers. Most groups early albums are better than their later ones anyway. But Iron Flag is still a solid effort and very good CD compared to all the crap on the radio now.
Free Music Review: WEAK WEAK WEAK Hit: 1 StarsI hate to see WUTANG's name on this album. The beats are so far away from what Wu Tang is famous for, and the songs need good beats first to be good songs. I don't care if there is the best verse in hip hop history (which of course is not on this). YOU NEED GOOD BEATS!!! I can't believe the RZA. What is he doing in his life that is so much more important than recreating that Wu Tang sound!! If this is the WuTang of now, I abandon all future efforts by them. Unless some magic time capsule brings them back to 1993, then they will continue to make this stupid sh**
