Free Music Notes for SkylarkingFree Music Review: Have always liked this album, but my interest was resparked... Hit: 5 Starsthere is a recently done fantastic 2 hour interview with Andy Partridge on [..]. I never knew how brilliant, literate, and hysterically off the wall funny this man is! I was listening to the download on my ipod while at the gym, and constantly burst out laughing, I am sure causing the other gym goers to think I was insane. His English accent made his stories all the more captivating. Andy talks in the interview about the making of this album, among many other things. His articulate wit left me obsessed with listening to and getting more of his music.
Yes, delightful album, better with time and repeated listening. I do not need to rehash the details other reviewers have outlined.
Another Satellite is my favorite. This is a dreamy magical album.
Free Music Review: greatest pop band ever Hit: 5 StarsI think XTC is the most underrated pop band of the 80's. The fact everything this band did seems to be completely ignored on radio airwaves, despite being consistently enjoyable time and time again only shows how sad and lonely this world can be. This is probably their biggest album, but make sure you buy everything the band released before this one for a really enjoyable pop experience. If you're not satisfied, well, that just can't be possible now, can it?
Free Music Review: One of my all time favorites Hit: 5 StarsA brilliant album I first purchased in 1986 which over the years and several moves has been misplaced. First rate "Beatlesque" production from Todd Rundgren and literate songwriting have in my opinion made this a classic album that will undoubtedly show up on many "best" lists for decades to come. A beautiful record.
Free Music Review: 5 stars Hit: 5 StarsOK, so I know what I'm talking about. No, really! I've probably listened to more good music than you have.
Regardless of any arguments, this is one of the best albums I've ever listened to. Yes, it's right up there with "Village Green" and whatever else. If you're smart, then get this.
Free Music Review: Dear God Hit: 5 StarsEveryone talks about this song as if it's a sin to question faith. Mother Teresa did it, why can't Andy Partridge? Listeners of XTC are intelligent to know that deep inside Andy Partridge is a complex, tortured soul that's too fragile for much of this world. Bravo to him for saying what many followers of God (in any religion) have thought in their darkest moments. I'm sure God prefers this to the Disney "la la follow your heart" crap.
The rest of the songs are phenomenal, personal favorite "Another Satellite." Although this is one of XTC's best albums, you don't get the full feel of the band with Todd Rundgren's heavy hand. Buy "Black Sea" or "English Settlement" first, then "Drums And Wires" before you get to this one. And for God's sake (pun intended), don't waste your money on a greatest hits CD.
