Free Music Notes for At the Speed of LifeFree Music Review: His illest to date! Hit: 5 StarsThis is by far his illest album to date. This album is off the hinges. His lyrics are mad raw and its shameful that Xzibit himself would agree with the mainstream knuckleheadz and diss his own album's greatness. If you want real Xzibit cop this. Otherwise stick with Wu-Tang and the underground Automator for ill material.
Free Music Review: Xzibit can flow Hit: 5 StarsXzibit can really hit hard and proves it on this albulm song after song he comes at you with full speed. with guest apperances by the Alkaholiks and King Tee you know your getting something great.
Free Music Review: Mr. X to tha Z Hit: 5 StarsThis cd is tight. Xzibit is one of tha illest rappers. I luv this cd. Songs like at the speed of life, papparzi and eyes may shine r dope. i cant wait for xzibits RESTLESS LP to come out. It is going to be amazing. I have already heard parts of his new cd and it is sounding good. But buy this album because it has dope rhymes and beats. This sh** is amazing
Free Music Review: Very Nice Hit: 5 StarsThis illmatic-like debut is exceptional. It is far better than his follow up. I personally dig the sonic soundscapes contained on this disc. However, what makes it stand out is Xzibit's effortless and blazing lyrics. I love lyrics. Without lyrics hip hop would just be a version of drum and bass. The true originality as far as hip hop goes is in lyrical delivery, rhyming skill, cadence, conceptual scope and variety in theme. Take a good listen to this album and tell me that Xzibit isn't one of the premier lyricists in hip hop. Support the lyricists (Jeru, Black Thought, Black Star, The Liks, Common, Grand Puba, Eminem, J-Live, Outkast, Illmatic Nas, Tical Meth, etc...)!
Free Music Review: Good, if inconsistent, debut Hit: 3 StarsXzibit splashed onto the scene with "Paparazzi"... but we can forgive him for that. Even though the orchestration of the song was excellent, it was an obvious plea for radio attention. In spite of that, the rest of "At the Speed of Life" doesn't cater to the radio, and is a good record despite being inconsistent in that goodness. The highlights include the bumping banger-with-a-message, "The Foundation," the bouncy "Positively Negative" with King Tee (that bassline is DEEEEEP), "Hit & Run, Pt. II," which uses one of my favorite beats of all time, and "Plastic Surgery," a hilarious metaphor of a song where Xzibit, Saafir and Ras Kass are the doctors. Unfortunately, there are several moments where the album falls on its face, suffering from bland production, but the highlights make it an album worth purchasing.
