I do enjoy the two songs on the CD. Yes, two.... that's my fault for not reading what I was buying. I though I was getting a full CD, but instead I paid $$ for this single. I am making this public confession for not reading in order to get this mistake to stick in my brain. GO YAEL! You have a great voice. Just what all you emo's needed ...
how can you be so commercial or even persuaded by a commercial to run out and get the 'best song you've ever heard'? Get out much?
Ok, now that I've been hypercritical on to some redeeming qualities.
There are songs on the album that I'm able to listen without going into a drowse-like trance. I liked Far Far and Pachad. However, most of them are fit for wistful, broken-hearted times when one feels like putting their face into a pillow and crying themselves to sleep.
She is no Corrinne Bailey Rae. Very limited range and barely singing above a whisper. Even the instruments are used sparingly and rightly so because otherwise you wouldn't be able to hear her voice. Fit for those very, very quite and pacified moments of tranquility.

Like most I was hooked by the song "New Soul" in the Mac Air ad. So I march to the store and get the CD (I still like CD's, something about the smell-anyway...), and play her in my car right away. I didn't feel the need to skip one song which is very rare! This is a very well written, well sung and thoughtful and mellow pop album. I liked it. I will say that "new soul" sounds a little out of place even though it's a brilliant song. So this girl kind of reminds me a little of Regina Spektor and a lot of Fiona Apple but she's got her own thing which is nice and refreshing to me. If there's a song I didn't like at ALL was her remake of Britney Spear's "Toxic"; Don't get me wrong it's a different take on the song and an improvement but I can't get the original singer out of my head and it angers me that I'm forced to think of Britney at all! Otherwise I'm learning to like the Cd more and more every time I listen to it.
