You know how sometimes when you eagerly await the next album from one of your favorite artists, and the album finally arrives, it's not as good as you were hoping? NOT A PROBLEM HERE!! I've just finished listening to the whole album through the first time and I have enjoyed every single track. In the past, I have liked Yanni's instrumental work more than the pieces that feature vocalists. All the tracks on this album, except "Playing By Heart", contains human voice in some form, but I still love it. The instrumentals and voices really complement each other, with fabulous results. Additionally, I think I would characterize this album as a little higher energy than many of the previous albums; that's ok by me, too! The 2nd disk is a 25 minute DVD containing concert footage from Albert Hall. Looks pretty good on the PC, need to get it home to watch it seriously.Free Music Review: Ethnicity

I am wondering what Yanni was thinking? How is he EVER GOING TO BE ABLE TO TOP THIS ONE!!!!!!! Yanni has really done it this time, the mixture of different instruments and all kinds of style's really show how creative he really is. It is amazing that such beautiful music like all the tracks on ETHNICITY are able to come out of instruments. One wonders what Yanni has in store for the future? This is the best music that has ever been writtin. I am including RAP, which i like a lot. People may wonder why I listen to this if I like RAP? How can you not love what you hear when you play this CD. Every note is like none other on earth. And there will never be anyone who is capable of such beutiful music then Yanni. He is blessed with a talent that he shares with the world. Listen to his talent, and become part of the beauty that you hear.Free Music Review: Worth every penny ....a must have for a Yanni fan....

I have seen the concert and I can say that Yanni put the best of him and his crew into this album. Love, emotion, rhythm, passion, joy, sadness a wonderful potpourri of life moments that bring back to the sensible heart happy memories of the past, moments that we all treasure. I do not want to analyze his work from a very cold and distant corner, because this music fills your heart, letting yourself to be taken on the wings of dreams, surrounded by immense hope. You want to reach beyond the daily worries, to take out what is the best in you and perhaps this troubled world? Then go for this album and you wont regret it. Listening on the road, driving or kissing the lips of life- this is the perfect choice....I love all the songs , but my favorites are: "Almost a Whisper", "Playing by Heart" and "Rites of Passage".Free Music Review: An exquisite mosaic of ethnic rythms

For me, 'Ethnicity' became a hard-to-put-down album simply because of its beauty and diversity. The vocal work in there is exquisite, and the mix of exotic instrumentation transports you. I read a couple of reviews that disagreed with Yanni and the whole new direction he took in creating this album. I find it reasonable that some people dislike it since they were accustomed to his other works preceding 'Ethnicity'. Perhaps the fact that I was self introduced to Yanni's music with this album provides enough reason for my positive opinion on it. In any case however, this album is indisputably a triumph. Change is good, and this album is one of many proofs of that. I sincerely hope that Yanni's next album sounds more like this one.Free Music Review: ignore the naysayers who want to live in the past

I almost let the lukewarm response of fans lamenting his changing style disuade me from buying Ethnicity. That was even after I saw him on this new tour in Tampa. Then I saw him again in Phoenix and I bought it the next day. Yes, the music is different but every artist changes, just as we ourselves change. The concert opens with On Sacred Ground, which has even prompted me to pull that CD out (my least favorite) and start listening again. Ethnicity is magical. At the Phoenix show I brought a friend who was only marginally aware of who Yanni was and he walked away amazed. And a fair portion of this tour is from Ethnicity! So buy it, leave your Yanni "sameness" expectations at the door and be prepared for magic!
