Free Music Review: Good but not Great
Hit: 4 Stars

I had actually seen the concert from this tour in Chicago, and it was amazing. However, the compilation on the disc isn't as good for some reason. My biggest complaint is that most of the songs are taken from his previous albums, and while they are given a new twist, the songs are still the same ones -- you can hear some of the songs on this album in Live at Acropolis, Ethnicity and Tribute. There are only a few songs which are original to this album, and they are the ones that stand out as the best. Still, however, I'm giving the album 4 stars, as any CD where Yanni performs live is better than anything he has ever done that is fully synthesized - a full orchestra, at least IMHO, makes his music amazing.

Note: The album being offered here on Amazon is only a 12-track cd. It is missing a track entitled "World Dance" which can be found on certain cd's. I happened to buy mine from WalMart as they advertised an exclusive track. To me, this song is really the reason to buy the cd. It's original and extremely upbeat and enjoyable.

Free Music Review: He still is appealing after over 15 years
Hit: 4 Stars

I've been a Yanni Fan ever since I was 5, and now I'm 20 year olds and a professional studio musician/keyboardist. I must admit, this is one good live cd. However, it does not match his Live at the Acropolis, which is the 2nd best music video in history. For example, how can Michael Jackson himself match up with his own Thriller album? Some of the songs are old and well recognized like Keys to Imagination or the lovely Nostalgia. His newer pieces like Playtime are catchy and fun to listen to when you are in the car. the piece Prelude is by far, to me personally, not the best. For musicians out there, this song is covered with chromatic scales. Not the best. The cd however is still great, and is a must for music listeners and collectors.

Free Music Review: I like the old Yanni
Hit: 4 Stars

I like his old music. Especially the 'Tribute' album. Back when he used to do pretty good orchestration. But that's just me. However, he is indeed a very unique artist.

Hit: 4 Stars

Good music. Not all the old traditional stuff you've heard before. Lot's of new, you may like it you may not.

Free Music Review: New Yanni Listeners... WARNING!!! Hardcore Yanni Fans...GO NUTS!!!
Hit: 3 Stars

First I have to admit. I'm a hardcore Yanni fan and I have been to the concert which this album is composed. That is why I bought this CD otherwise there will be no chance in hell that I will be able to listen to this material, yet alone purchase it. So here is my opinion:

This album sounds more like a MIDI version of the acropolis when you start to listen to tracks like "Keys to Imagination" and "Nostalgia". The album starts with "Rainmaker" an upbeat African-Australian-Latin-Oriental mix that although one of my favorites from the Ethnicity album I have a hard time to adjust to the Spanish Lyrics added on the Live version. It gives a totally different feel. Then comes a couple of pre-acropolis tunes like I mentioned before sound more like a ringtone than an actual song. Then "On Sacred Ground", one of my favorite Yanni tunes again submerged to a mere coca cola jingle by what sounds like it was performed by a high school band that professional musicians. Then comes "playtime". Pretty much the name says it all. This song has no direction and I had trouble enjoying it. Maybe you might like it if you enjoy a 3 year old bang a the keyboard without mercy. Then comes "Until the last moment", "If I could tell you" and for "all the seasons" which are sub-par compared to other Yanni tunes. Then comes the only new song in the album which is "The Storm". Which I think is reach its meaning. It is just a storm of improvised solos, no composing talent needed here. Then follows "Prelude" which for whatever reason Yanni made it last 5 minutes when it was twice as long already in the Tribute album. And finally the album ends with "Nostalgia" which it feels like it was just put there to fill in the blank.

So this review is more geared towards the NEW Yanni fans than the hardcore fans because I know they are going to buy it just like me. And Yanni does have good material. It is just not this one. If you are new to Yanni get Live at the acropolis, Tribute , or In my Time. But if Yanni is going to produce sub-par material like this, next time I wont be finding myself buying his albums. This has been an honest review.
