Free Music Notes for Reflections of PassionFree Music Review: Heartfelt, honest and unabashedly romantic Hit: 4 Stars
Some may say the music of Yanni is syrupy, saccharine, musically light and full of stylistic cliches, and they're probably right, but sometimes ... that's exactly what you need! I do, anyway. There is an undeniable energy to this music that captures the attention, moves, motivates and tugs at the heartstrings. I think what I like most about his style is that while it does have some depth, it doesn't brood and wallow in it. Many of Yanni's full-voiced keyboard compositions are cheerful, set in major keys, and while some of the musical motifs are a undeniably trite, the compositions do build and change, developing a rich, diverse texture. "Reflections of Passion" gathers together some of the best--great music to play during periods of emotional release and healing. Just listen and look upwards, and you'll find a spot of sunshine to appreciate on any cloudy day. "Reflections of Passion" is a compilation of previously released hits from Yanni's earlier albums, and a similar collection, released around the same time in the early 1990s is "In Celebration of Life".
Free Music Review: Music To Relax By Hit: 4 Stars
If you're feeling a little down, and it happens to be a rainy summer night, this is the one you reach for, turn down the lights, lay back, and just relax with over an hour's supremely enjoyable music.
There are no liner notes, and instead of the usual plastic jewel case the disc is in a fold-out paper-backed package. There is a brief note from Yanni dated 1990 which says: "This album represents my life's passion during the past ten years. It is an expression of love for the people in my life, as well as for some very special and inspiring places I can never forget."
Inspiring it most definitely is!
Free Music Review: A Good sample of Yanni's better works. Hit: 4 Stars
Forget everything else from Yanni, these two compilations are all you need! "Reflections of Passion" and "In Celebration of Life" present the best of Yanni's more impressive (pre-1990) works. In my opinion, his best works ("Santorini," "Marching Season," "Keys to Imagination"), are on In Celebration of Life.
Free Music Review: Earlier work with more synthesizer than piano Hit: 4 Stars
While I am glad I have this album, it is not one that I play often. For me, the piano and orchestral arrangements are more what I like. But , this is from Yanni's earlier days. So it is still a good album, as it lets you see the growing stages of the artist.
