Free Music Notes for Show Your Bones

Free Music Review: that's kind of cool.
Hit: 3 Stars

it somewhat amuses me how so many bands are 'throwbacks to the days when music was good' but don't actualy sound like any of those bands. i picked up the yeah yeah yeahs cd thinking it was going to sound like something post punk. but no.

karen o is obviously inspired by artists like kim deal and kim gordon and patti smith i think some of their older albums capture this immitation a little bit better.

it's not the polished nature of the songs, either. it's something else. it feels like pop tunes trying to be post punk tunes and it just isn't working for me.

however, when you listen to the yeah yeah yeahs for who they are. i guess they are kind of cool. kind of.

Free Music Review: Polished, Serene, but Infectious
Hit: 5 Stars

If "Fever To Tell" emphasises "Fever" then "Show Your Bones" emphasises "Bones". Bones in the sense of baering, exposing and further excavating the plethora of talent swirling through this trio of artists. Again, anyone who is not immediately entralled by cuts like "Phenomena" or "Turn Into" should just relegate music to a subordinate function in their lives (before I start receiving death threats, please be aware that I don't believe such individuals exist). The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs continue to consistently deliver unparalleled objet d'art. My new dream collaboration is Radiohead, Jack White, and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs.

Free Music Review: Music Lives!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

They have turned my negativity about music as-of-late completely around. I could loop it 24/7 and only love it more.

I demand that they be made gods of good music!

(really, one of the best things going, and worth the money ten times-over)

Free Music Review: Best Band in the Land - the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Hit: 5 Stars

Saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California at this summer's Download Festival (next to Google's headquarters). Heard of them but never heard them before. Came to see the headliner, Beck. Was completely blown away by the YYY's. They definitely outshined everyone else on the bill. Beck's opening remarks about this year's festival being the best lineup of bands he had played with in some time and how he was honored to be playing alongside them was clearly aimed at the YYY's and specifically, Karen O, the lead singer of the YYY's. She absolutely rocked and the band was incredibly tight. Some have criticized the band for that polished quality on their latest album but pay no attention. I can't think of a more creative band at the moment. After the show read up on the band and saw a quote from Sonic Youth saying that singers like Karen comes along only once in a decade. Can't wait to see their next show. This is the best album I've heard since Odelay.

Free Music Review: Just good fun music
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great album. It is perfect for doing chores at home, driving in the car or plugging away in the cubicle. I took a chance on this ablum because I enjoyed "pins" and "maps" from fever to tell and I am glad I did. "Golden Lion", "Way Out" and "Cheated Hearts" are my favorites.
