Free Music Review: One of the best soundtracks of all time

I wonder why it is that people seem to trivialize the quality of the George Martin portion of this soundtrack. They are incredible orchestrals, a wonderful neo-classical complementary section to the Beatles' work. It is true that the most popular songs on the album are taken directly off of Rubber Soul and Magical Mystery Tour, but they are songs which are integral to the movie and certainly couldn't be left alone; most of the best-loved songs from the movie, most notably "Nowhere Man," are not included. That is not to downplay the quality of this soundtrack, however, and getting a few of the "lost songs" (i.e. "Hey Bulldog") definitely makes it worthwhile. And again, the George Martin symphonics make for a wonderfully different album to own, at least to those who actually appreciate classical music.
