Free Music Review: Aural experience!
Hit: 4 Stars

"Eleanor Rigby" re-mix with the stringed instruments in 'full' stereo as opposed to the left channel only, PLUS center vocals opposed to right channel - this alone is worth the 'admission' as they say.
"Hey Bulldog" with a similar re-mix is just the added 'gift'.
Those of us that prefer the 'soundtrack' of 1969 should just buy it and add it to some of these wonderful remixes - if you wish.
BUT - there really is no room for anything negative mentioned about the fine work that was done to these tracks - just beautiful!

Free Music Review: the beatles 3rd movie.
Hit: 5 Stars

after "a hard days night" and "help",this was thier 3rd movie.it came out in early 67.it started with thier #1 song "yellow submarine" a childrens song by john.theres something rock bands werent doing.this inspired such songs as "puff the magic dragon" and "dog the bounty hunter".then a good one called "hey bulldog".then another #1 with "elanoar rigby".its a very sad song about a funeral nobody came to.they do a all strings version on thier later album "anthology".sinead o'conner borrows the chorus on her song "famine"."love you too" is good."all together now" is childlike in nature and fun.then comes "lucy in the sky with diamonds".it was banned as being a acronym for lsd."think for yourself" is alright."only a northern song" is about how easily they spew forth #1 hits and the utter amazement they feel at how strongly people react to them.its really cool."baby youre a rich man" was a favorite of charlie mansons.supposedly he would sing "how does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?" to his pals.then came another #1 for 15 total in 5 years.it was called "all you need is love".the story goes the beatles were being broadcast out to the largest radio audience of all time and so john wrote this buddhist tune because it contained stuff everbody needed to hear"."nowhere man" shows up again.it was previously released but it was just so groovy, man!so they brought it back!then "its all too much" rounds it out.the movie isnt bad either.this was the 1st totaly psycadelic album and inspired countless others including the grateful dead, pink floyd, rolling stones, jimi hendrix and so many dirty hippies.another revelation by the beatles.they were sending music light years ahead with every album now!

Free Music Review: When did they change it?
Hit: 3 Stars

I was actually looking for what is apparently an old version of the album. I didn't notice anything about this in the Amazon description but when the album arrived, on that sticker that holds the case close it says "(New Version)". Apparently we'd been checking the old version out of the library for the kids. The new version lacks the instrumental sections of the old version, which is the part we like. I'm quite disappointed.

Free Music Review: please apple, remix the proper british releases
Hit: 5 Stars

hearing the remaster of hey bulldog and baby your a rich man here is like hearing a new track compared to the am radio sounding versions on the original 1987 cd release of yellow submarine, although Id like to see a remaster of the proper yellow submarine british lp I must say these remasters clean up the muddy sound of the original cd issues,The beatles are the greatest band in the world so what is the hold-up of going through the british version masters and making the sound truly come alive again, not to mention the goldmine those people who decide such things are sitting on,,even its all too much sounds great

Free Music Review: The Way It Should Have Been Issued in the First Place
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are torn between the new and original versions of YELLOW SUBMARINE, buy them both. My parents bought me the original Apple record album in the late 1960s shortly after I saw the movie in the theater. In those days, I felt somewhat cheated by the original album. I was hoping for the inclusion of NOWHERE MAN, SERGEANT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, and other musical tracks from the movie. As an eight-year-old, I had neither the patience, nor the taste for George Martin's orchestration on side two of the album.

I am sure the argument has been made that the missing Beatles songs were on other albums and, therefore, had no place on YELLOW SUBMARINE. If so, this does not explain why previously released YELLOW SUBMARINE and ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE found their way onto this pressing. Indeed, there were only four new Beatles creations on the record including ITS ALL TOO MUCH, ONLY A NORTHERN SONG, ALL TOGETHER NOW, and HEY BULLDOG. Remember in the US-released version of the movie, the cartoon HEY BULLDOG sequence was not included in the film.

In summary, as a youngster I was dissatisfied with the original release.

Jumping ahead several years, I eventually developed an appreciation for the original album. It also helped that by that time my Beatles record and tape collection had grown to the point where I had the missing tracks several times over. When the movie YELLOW SUBMARINE was remastered and re-released -- Alas, never in a cinema within several hundred miles of my home -- I was elated at the new soundtrack CD. I was immediately reminded of my disappointment 30-plus years prior. I can now also put the HEY BULLDOG sequence into perspective.

The Beatles music sounds better than ever. I am glad someone came to his or her senses and issued this CD.

Owning both CDs, I have the best of both worlds. Maybe YELLOW SUBMARINE will eventually be released as a double CD set.
