Yellow Swans, I believe, come from San Francisco (at least, that's what their web site indicated). They make noise. A lot of it. Yeah, so what's new? After all, any jerk with a bunch of beat up analog synths and a rotten attitude makes a big racket these days. Literally. Hipster record stores have whole sections devoted to brain-melting free form electro accoustic musique concrete cut off yr head stick it in a blender hit puree feed it to tha dobermans and when he vomits plant the muck in the ground then when yr head grows back out repeat the process ad infinitum/nausea and gee whiz ain't we the radical culture jammin' anarcho syndicalist commie satanists out to take down THE MAN and even tho the millions who've come before us didn't succeed we will 'cos we're like, young, and they can't deny us and the horse we rode in on, DUDE!!! What do the cultured young gentlemen in Yellow Swans do differently that makes them worth scraping the paint off your walls for a while?
Not much, really. They're part Throbbing Gristle updated as 21st century digital boys and part Wolf Eyes drifting on clouds of the sweetest bud they can scrape off the floor of their van. You can also throw in the soundtrack to "Blade Runner" for good measure. So why give it a generous four stars? Just to tee off THE MAN. What are you, a cop?
