Free Music Review: Another masterpiece from the mighty Yes!

The wonderful Yes turn in another milestone with their 1972 epic "Close To The Edge," which is every bit as powerful as "Fragile." Although it takes more than one listen to fully appreciate the depth and beauty of "Close ... " - three or four spins are recommended to get the essence of the LP - listeners will not be let down. The haunting "I get up, I get down" mid-section to the title track sounds like a gritty, spacey Beach Boys arrangement. Excellent, fat remastering and impressive packaging from Rhino. Bill Bruford's drums and Chis Squire's pinging Rickenbacker bass runs sound as if they're setting up camp in your front room. Also impressive is the quintet's take on Paul Simon's "America." Don't hesitate to pick this CD up. You'll see why this band still performs tracks from this LP in concert 30-plus years later.
