Free Music Notes for Yes AlbumFree Music Review: Great album Hit: 5 Stars
If you already purchased the YES Original masters that were issued in the early 90's...the only thing you're gaining here are the bonus tracks...and you might want to talk to somebody who already scored these new remasters...to see if the liner notes are the same as the originals....as they tend to cut, add or mutilate the original package in an attempt to update.
I have every one of the original masters from the 90's and dont intend on parting with them...or investing in a complete new library...considering the sound on my existing cd's is excellent.
Free Music Review: their first classic Hit: 5 Stars
Nobody really knows how the magic came about with this record. It could've been Steve Howe's entry into the band. It could've been the extra hard work that they put into the album. Anyway, this is the first of many great Yes records and the first with the trademark Yes feel to it. This album was their first tap into the mainstream. It's also one of their most accessible album out of their classics. Although Fragile made them known across the world, this is where it all began. This album and Fragile are both excellent starting places for the new fan.
Free Music Review: I am not buying this album a third time....nice try Atlantic Hit: 5 Stars
First of all, if you don't already own this album why not? This is the first truly spectacular Yes album in the Almighty Yes Trilogy (including "Fragile" and "Close To The Edge"). "Your Move" is the quintessential Yes song and "Starship Trooper" is pure prog rock ecstasy. That being said, this is also the third re-issue of this album on CD and I'll be damned if Atlantic is going to con me into buying it again just for a few bonus tracks. The album has already been digitally remastered once, what do I look like, an idiot? Fuggedaboutit.
Free Music Review: The Clap Hit: 5 Stars
This is another album I listened to over and over in the early 70s, then put away. Hearing it now is something of a revelation -- there are all kinds of interesting things going on musically, and the lesser-known tunes on here ("A Venture") are just as good as the familiar ones. I used to go to a burger place on Mass. Ave. in Boston in the summer of '74, and for some reason they had "The Clap" on their jukebox. Those were the days. I guess Rick Wakeman was inevitable, but for me, this is the best Yes album.
Free Music Review: A Tremendous Record Hit: 5 Stars
Now the band's ambition is harnessed into something great. Put Steve Howe alongside Chris Squire and Bill Bruford, and something great's going to happen. What did happen, with Jon Anderson helping to shape and singing like noone else, is timeless music if you ask me.
Forget "Your Move/All Good People" which is a Crosby Stills & Nash rip-off. "Yours Is No Disgrace", "Starship Trooper", and "Perpetual Change" are brilliant compositions played with energy and precision.
