Free Music Review: YES is coming, they're going to be great

my YES experience prior to the purchase of this set many years ago was limited to just two albums (fragile/Close-edge) and the paltry number of songs classic rock radio at that time would permit. honestly, i didn't even appreciate those two albums as the genre defining prog-rock masterpieces that i know they are today. i liked the idea of boxed sets though, so i took a flier. i'm still unfamiliar with their individual albums but i think hardcore fans would agree this is an excellent set. the first disc i loved immediately, its fantastic. its one of a very few compilation discs that i listen to as they are. the rest was slow for me. 'heart of the sunrise' is a perfect example, a song that did not impress me years ago, i hear it today and it sounds like one of the greatest songs in rock history. its actually better than 'roundabout' a song i've always loved. starship trooper, yours is no disgrace, roundabout, heart of the sunrise, close to the edge, and you and i are simply amazing tracks that define what everyone calls progressive rock. i also love 'awaken' on disc three. my only disappointment is the studio version of 'and you and i' was nixed for a live one instead. even more bad news, they again ignored this track while compiling the new box "In a Word". that's nine discs without the studio 'and you and i' for this i deduct a star. did i mention 'mood for a day'?
