Free Music Notes for Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio MorriconeFree Music Review: Gorgeous Music Hit: 5 StarsThe team of Yo-Yo Ma and Ennio Morricone is something to behold. Wonderful Melodies. I've listened to this again and again.
Free Music Review: Outstanding CD-Beautiful, deeply moving... Hit: 5 StarsWould that the world could be as beautiful and elegant as the music on this cd - the opening piece introduces the theme, which grows and develops through the subsequent pieces - just stunning-Thank you Mr. Morricone, Thank you Mr. Ma -
Free Music Review: A Great way to introduce everyone to the Cello Hit: 5 StarsWe bought this CD to introduce our 8 year old son to great Cello music - he has been learning to play Cello for the last 2 years.
We brought this CD with us on a recent road trip to Colorado and South Dakota, and played it almost exclusively during our trip. What a wonderful audio complement to the visual beauty that we experienced.
Thanks Yo-Yo!
Free Music Review: Beautifully composed, performed & recorded (Wonderful music - bad cuts) Hit: 5 StarsIf this CD contains only the music from (The Mission), (Good, Bad & Ugly) & (La Califfa), it worth more than its price. Some of Morricone's greatest works, a very sensitive play from Ma & a dreamy mode from 1st till last moment (and that's exactly why I mentioned the cuts in this CD).
The cuts here are really bad and unjustified too. You may note this especially when shocked by the cuts between the themes from (The Mission: Gabriel's Oboe & The falls) & (Once Upon A Time In America: Cockeye's Song & Main theme). They break the mode for nothing. Themes from each film should be presented as one musical piece as they were heard in the great CD : Arena Concerto. In fact, one of the greatest things in Morricone's music is that you can listen to the many themes from any film as a one piece if they are properly mixed together (and what a GREAT TALENT he has to do so), remember how he treated the many themes & different modes from Canone Inverso (Making Love) included in Arena Concerto CD? that was like a beautiful 15 minutes symphony. And even if there is a reason for those cuts, there were more suitable moments to cut in, especially between Gabriel's Oboe & The falls. There is a very silent moment after Gabriel's Oboe and before start playing The Falls, instead they presented the introduction to The Falls theme under the title of Gabriel's Oboe and suddenly, in the middle of the theme, : CUT and next track (which is the remains of The Falls theme).
Anyway, this is a perfect dreamy CD & a must have not only for Morricone's fans, but for all classic music ones.
Don't forget to listen carefully to the background played by Ma in The Ecstasy Of Gold (from GBU) & the wonderful background played by the Orchestra in the second half of Dinner (from La Califfa). I think a new soul of the original melodies has been discovered by Morricone by writing these new backgrounds.
Free Music Review: Track 12 - Ecstacy of Gold !! Hit: 5 StarsEnnio Morricone is a master of many styles. Yo-Yo Ma is a master of Ennio on the Cello. The combination is outstanding. Fire up L'Estasi Dell'Oro (Track 12) and it will transport you there. How does he do that? I don't have any idea but it surely moves me.
Thanks, Steve Willie, Olympia, WA
