Free Music Notes for Wolf's RainFree Music Review: Yes... yes... Hit: 3 Stars
I bought this CD in the hopes of it having a bunch of the great songs that were on the show, but I found out that they dont have very many, it has 21 tracks, and most of the songs were pretty good, but it wasnt exactly what I was looking for, but for the price, I personally think it was a good buy, because most of the songs are good on it, so I recomend it for whoever is a Wolf's Rain fan
Free Music Review: Wolf's Rain O.S.T. Only a Drizzle Hit: 2 Stars
While reading this review, keep in mind that I am of the school of thought that soundtracks are best using powerful instrumentals, using as few vocal songs as possible. Also, if vocals are used, the song needs to be strong enough to stand on its own. Sadly, most of the songs with vocals are too week to stand on their own and are from almost every concievable genre, from the 60s hippy sounding "Run, Wolf Warrior, Run" to the 80s Sting sounding "Stray". Even the song that drove me most to purchase the soundtrack, "Gravity", fell quite short of my expectations. The version of "Gravity" included on the album is not the same haunting version that was in the episode end credits. As for the instrumentals, with the exceptions of "Shinro" and "Requiem", most of them fail to capture the power and emotion of the series. Most of the songs on this album have a spanish jazz sound to them, which is really not my forte, so that didn't help much either. What struck me most is the lack of some of the more powerful instrumentals I heard in the series. I guess I can hope that they are on Volume 2, but if this album is any indicator that may be too much to hope.
If you are a huge fan of the series that has to have every item related to it, get this album. If you like easy listening, relaxing music, especially spanish jazz, get this album. If you are looking for an album that captures the feeling of the series, I can't recommend it.
