Free Music Review: Beautiful Anguish.

Any listener who attempts to judge this in terms of ordinary rock/pop is in my opinion, and idiot. Yoko produces some of the most organic, human and frighteningly beautiful sounds ever recorded, I truly am amazed at the way this woman uses the human voice. The spare backing by Lennon , Starr and Voorman is both funky and jazzy while retaining the raw, echoey, stuttery rock foundation found on John's "Plastic Ono Band". Ringo is in especially fine form on all these numbers playing with a ferocity and freedom only hinted at in his earlier Beatles work. This is proudly and willfully difficult music that will disturb and provoke anyone who comes near it. AVANT GARDE PERFECTION.Free Music Review: What can I say?

I just found out about this CD (album) when I watched the DVD about the making of John's first album.
What I heard from this album in that DVD intrigued me so I purchased the CD. I also have always liked Yoko's vocalisations (I purchased the Live In Toronto LP when it was released).
I find this album amazing, original and totally appropriate for the current times (as it was then).
Yoko's vocalizations here were cutting edge then and still are.
Also, John's guitar work is way over the top, so cool and original and appropriate with Yoko's vocals it's just amazing. The sounds of his guitar are also great.
Ringo's drumming and Voorman's bass are amazing and in perfect sync with Yoko and John at EVERY LEVEL. I have never heard bass and drums sound so full and rich and tight and present.
There are other bass players and a drummer as well, and Omette Coleman on trumpet. All contribute to this work and make it AWESOME!!
The engineers need to be fully acknowledged here. The sound as I mentioned earlier is incredible.
Needless to say, if you don't like this side of Yoko then what can I say? But if you do like I do, this Cd is incredible!

This album would be great, if it was just Ringo, John and Klaus Voormann jammin' out and going crazy. It would be the best, if only Yoko would just be quiet for 10 minutes. Well I guess John was diggin' Yokos "thing" so Ill have to deal with it. But the band on this album is just great, and the music is so crazy and good. But Yoko screams dont turn my ears on so this is a pass unless you love John and Yokos first three albums.Free Music Review: This makes Bj?rk sound like Kylie Minogue

Well, to be completely honest I never liked the Beatles much, and I could care less about John's wife Yoko. But once I accidentally listened to this in Youtube and it changed my whole perspective not only on Yoko, but also on Lennon.
As a fan of Avant-Garde artists like Diamanda Gal?s and Ron Geesin, I thought I had listened to it all. I was wrong. This album is so ahead of time that it's almost unbelievable. It's got everything I like in an artist: passion, originality and emotion. Simply put, all that Bj?rk is trying to do, Yoko has already done.
I don't think this is Ono's best, but it's definitively raw material for some more mature compositions like the ones in her posterior albums. It's like Ummagumma for Pink Floyd. If you want to see (or hear) what LSD can do, listen to this album. But be careful, it might be a frightening experience and cause post traumatic psychological effects.

Attention No Wavers and Avant Guard fans: Make all the noise you want, just don't call it music. I am ok with Yoko recording some caterwauling and have nothing against anyone who buys it and listens to it. I do not blame Yoko for "breaking up the Beatles" and I don't believe she did. I am glad the Beatles broke up because they went out on top and never released dreck like Bridges to Babylon or Steel Wheels. I am happy that John met and fell in love with Yoko. But come on, without her famous husband no one would have paid attention to her noisy, annoying albums. If you want music, this isn't for you. Period.
