Free Music Notes for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (1999 Broadway Revival Cast)Free Music Review: Happiness is Listening to this album Hit: 5 Stars
I've seen two very enthusiastic local productions of this show, but the truth is they can't compare to this recording. Usually, the title song is done as a march. Here it has more of a modern jazz pop feel that is truly joyous. Both new songs have become favorites of mine. And what can I say about Roger Bart's Snoopy that hasn't been said? I laugh out loud each time I hear his performance. Now I wish I had seen him do this show. One other thing, I don't know about the rest of you Charlie Brown fans out there, but this particular rendition of "Happiness Is" has become even more poignant and emotional since the passing of Sparky Schulz. I'm glad I bought this disc, and you'll be glad, too.
Free Music Review: Nice little surprise. You won't regret picking it up... Hit: 5 Stars
To think, I had a chance to see this with the original cast but couldn't convince my friends to join me during our visit to NYC. Upon returning, I purchased this album and have been kicking myself since. This is a great, fun story that's worthy of a revival. The assembled cast is brilliant, with Anthony Rapp at the helm as the forgotten child, Charlie Brown. Rapp's portrayal of the lead character is amazing, with a perfect blend of innocence, insecurity, and vulneribility. BD Wong is also surprisingly good as Linus, but Chenoweth outshines the cast with her presentation of Sally. No point in explaining it, you just have to listen to it. Pick it up, you won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: YOU'RE A GOOD RECORDING, CHARLIE BROWN! Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! Living in England, this recording of a show that has only been released in the US was not easy to come across, but I found it in a little shop and boy was it a find!I won't spend time giving away the storyline, because the isn't one really. What is there is catchy tunes, fine performances and a very funny and beautiful score as well. There are some very neat musical and lyrical touches especially in the new 'Beethoven Day'. The arrangements make the band play very intricately and lyrically and this makes the recording great fun to listen to with its both touching and showstopping melodies and great performances. I can only recommend this to anyone. BUY!

I love this CD! I'm even thinking about trying to get my theatre company to put it on! The songs are awsome! The cast is awsome! Anthony Rapp makes Charlie Brown sound rather dreamy! Rodger Bart as Snoopy is so awsome! He has perfect pitch and just the perfect amount of verbrato in his voice! Kristin Chenoweth is totaly the best performance on this CD! Stanley Wayne Mathis makes Schroeder soulful, not just classical. Now for BD Wong and Ilana Levine. I personaly thought they were great! You other reveiwers seem to forget that they are actors telling a story and must sing and speak that way so they can show there acting skills! All in all this is one of the best CD's ever!
Free Music Review: Good Grief! So Good! Hit: 5 Stars
Recently played in a pit orchestra for this show and needed the recording for reference purposes. Didn't realize that I'd still be listening to it. Usually on a Broadway musical soundtrack there are two or three tracks that I tend to skip over, but there were none on this recording! The music was as I remembered it from the old movie cartoon. Kristin Chenoweth is brilliant in "My New Philosophy," "Beethoven Day" is a great upbeat addition, and "Suppertime" is a showstopper even on a CD. Even the bow music is fun. What makes it even greater is that it's only the six or so musicians playing- what talent. It's a treat. Really fun.
