A.R. Rahman has beat out all his other CDs and has totally done an award-candidate dive with Mani Ratnam's Yuva. The background score, featured in the motion picture is haunting, and the songs are excellent to listen to whenever, wherever. The Hindi version is best, but the Tamil and Telegu versions ( known as Aayitha Ezuthu) are also okay. I'll give you information on the songs step by step.

1: Dhakka Laga Bukka (Jana Gana Mana in Tamil/Telegu)

-- Offbeat dance song with cheesy lyrics, but beats and background synthesizers are great. Not the best song though

2: Khuda Hafiz [ also known as Anjaana Anjaani] ( Hey Goodbye Nanba in Tamil, Hey Goodbye Priya in Telegu)

-- One of the best songs in the album. A very upbeat Jazz Rock Dance tune with a total zest for the "yuva", or youth of the film. Lucky Ali and Sunita Swaraty shine in vocals! Fun lyrics as well.

3: Kabhi Neem Neem ( Sandai Kozhi in Tamil, Sankuratri Kodi in Telegu)

-- Truly Indian with a thundering score. Sweet lyrics, and Madhushree gives excellent vocals. A sappy song that has heart.

4: Dol Dol

-- A Techno Dance song with no comprehensible lyrics. Good at High School and College Dances, though

5: Badal ( Nenjam Ellam in Tamil, Vachinda Megham in Telegu)

--Not used in the movie, but wonderful song. Catchy lyrics, addicting beat, and Adnan Sami gives peppy vocals

6: Fanaa ( Yakkai Thiri in Tamil, Deham Thiri in Telegu)

-- Disco Beat with fun lyrics. Great song and really is reflective of the film's theme.

Overall, I'd give this record a 5 out of 5. If you want more music like this, check out the CDs of Hum Tum, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Main Hoon Naa, Chalte Chalte, Made in India (Alisha Chinoy), Dole Dole (Suchitra), Tehzeeb, and Meenaxi.
