Nothing about this sountrack is embellished or grandiose; rather, it is an amazingly well composed peice of music. The compositions don't leave my ear wanting more or less, nor do they trivialize a story that most would consider to be a "childhood classic". (In other words, the compositions don't sound stereo-typically childish or "Disney-esque".) Most importantly, there is something about the compositions themselves that are joyful and extraordinarily tender all at once, and I don't think I have ever listened to a sountrack that has evoked within me such strong emotional reactions toward the film itself. I suppose what I am really trying to say is that the music and the movie cannot be seperated -- I experience the movie as I listen to the music. And yes, while I think that sountracks in theory are supposed to accomplish this task, I feel that this particular soundtrack captures the heart of Mary and Colin; of children and childhood.
It is because of this that I can say that this music is complete, both emotionally and musically. This sountrack doesn't "point" toward the feelings or images of the film; it just simply IS The Secret Garden.
