Free Music Review: Strong Zebra Disc

I'll tell ya, this band were and probably still are, great at what they do. They are just a lot of fun and musically they are dynamite. Randy Jackson is a great guitarist and a nice guy but unfortunately Zebra never really got huge. They still play a good amount of shows and Randy Jackson does solo dates and the Zeppelin tribute type band with an orchestra and all. So Zebra does'nt get 100% devotion by all members. Felix does side stuff as well.
It took them years but they released this disc and it is a good one! Not perfect, but highly recommended. The songs are old school Zebra for the most part. The opener 'Arabian Nights' Sounds like something Randy would have done with his 'White Rain' project. But it is a great track with its addictive pace and blistering solo at the end, really starts the CD off well.
Tracks like 'Who an I?', 'Light of my Love' and 'So i Dance' are all standard, fun Zebra tracks. Could have been on 3.V. A couple tracks drag a little, but i wont mention them by name. That does not make them 'Bad', just longer than necessary. 'Free' is rocking and raw, and 'So I Dance' is refreshing with its acoustic guitar and laid back vocal style.
They do get a bit experimental on 'Waiting to Die', its alright, but comes up sounding like a lightweight Porcupine Tree type song. Not their best moment, but why not try new things after 30 years in the business?
Overall this is a cool CD if you like ZEBRA. Great production and is crank-able! Zebra were always outside the mainstream but this is better than their last mainstream album (3.V). I must say that Randy put in some damn good solos on here. The man can definitely play and proves it!
ZEBRA fans should have this already, so i doubt many will see this review. But it is a good feeling to have another real Zebra CD in my collection.
