Free Music Notes for Zucchero & Co.

Free Music Review: Sweeeeeeet !
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, wow, wow, I love this CD! I've never heard of Zucchero and came across his CD's the other day on one of my "search for some new (to me) music" jaunts to Borders. I bought it thinking that even if I didn't like his music, at least there were several artists on there that I do love. What an utter gem I found! Zucchero's voice reminds me a bit of Joe Cocker's, kind of husky but more smooth and bluesy. I fell in love with his voice straight away. I just can't believe that he's not bigger in the States.

I really enjoyed all the songs on the CD, but there were a few that really rocked my world.

Totally rocked:

I Lay Down- with John Lee Hooker--whoa...this song breaks my heart; it's so deep, soulful, and sensual. I can't get it out of my head. Zucchero and John Lee Hooker's voices so totally fit with each other on this.

Blue- with Sheryl Crow- I'm not so much a fan of hers, but they sound great together. It's kind of rockin- country sounding.

Like the Sun (From Out of Nowhere) - I just love Macy Gray and this duet is very sweet and very gospel like.

Hey Man (Sing a Song)--O.M.G- B.B. King just rules the world, and these two together singing this song brings me to tears it's so beautiful. Zucchero sings in Italian and B.B. King in English and it's very exotic, soulful, and deeply bluesy all at the same time.

Cosi Celest- with Cheb Mami- I love Cheb Mami's music and voice. This song is just very juicy and more ethnic sounding with Mami's Algerian Rai sound mixed with Zucchero's Italian. So delicious!

Diavolo in Me (Devil in Me) - with Solomon Burke- This is a boogie up the isle sing hallelujah... get down and dance, rockin, gospel type song. You can't stop the body from moving with this one.

Miserere- Seriously, it doesn't get any better than this. I've been into Andrea Bocelli and Pavarotti for a long time and these three together make the most beautiful music. I love when operatic voice is mixed with other genres and it works really well here.

There are so many good songs on this CD and unmentioned by me are songs with famous artists like Sting, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, and other singers I've never heard of, but which I got pleasantly introduced to. What an exceptional CD!

Free Music Review: God said, Let Zucchero be! (and there was light)
Hit: 5 Stars

I picked up this CD, "Zucchero & Co." from the Los Angeles public library by chance, mainly because I saw names such as Sting, Pavarotti, BB King, Miles Davis and Cheb Mami etc. on it. I have remained a devout fanatic of Zucchero ever since.

This is an excellent CD. Anyone, any person who likes music, will find something of his/her interest in this CD. This is a star-studded collection, almost like a mini encyclopedia of who's who in the Global Music scene. I love this CD. Two of the tracks in this CD (Miserere and Diavolo in me) are screwed due to some technicality (which is sad), and I hope the oder I placed through Amazon for the title "Zu & Co." with 4 added tracks will solve this problem. I also watched many Zucchero videos in YouYube (Diamante with Randy Crawford, Cosi Celeste with Brian May, Hey Man with Eric Cpalton etc.) since then, and I think they are also as good as his music is.

Over the past 2 months, 6 CDs of Zucchero have arrived at my doorstep, 5 more are in transit, and I hope to continue to buy any new album he releases in the future. Thanks to Zucchero, I am now acquainted to some other excellent bands such as Amici forever, whose CD I picked up, just because it had zucchero's name on it, and performers such as Andrea Boccelli (though I heard his earlier with Sarah Brightman).

If you love music and appreciate yourself, the least you can do is to procure (buy/beg/borrow/steal) a copy of "Zucchero & Co.". I'm sure, one day you will pat yourself for this choice you had made in a distant afternoon.

I rest my case!

Free Music Review: BLUE SUGAR...SUGAR'S BLUES !!
Hit: 5 Stars

This review was accidentally placed on the wrong CD (Best of Zucchero), but it rightfully goes with this CD (Zucchero and Co.)! (please forgive) (However,The Best of Zucchero is also ONE GREAT CD and is highly recommended !)
Well, if you love the blues, or an updated/different version thereof, and if you love love songs, you will love this CD ! Whether you can speak Italian or not, who cares...they are love songs, make up your own words ! lol I bought this CD just for one song, Cosi Celeste (she's my baby) but have fallen in love with the entire CD...and Zucchero too I might add ! I discovered him through my love of Cheb Mami and wanted She's My Baby done by both of them, hence this CD was purchased. That song is mesmerizing and Cheb's voice is haunting and the two artists together definitely make beautiful music. This CD is soft and sensual and if you want a unique musical experience I suggest you give it a listen. I have since bought other Zucchero CDs and intend to eventually have all his work. His voice is great, nothing flamboyant or pretentious, just plain nice ! His music is earthy, meaningful, and so romantic. He also does some of his music in English and it is just as nice as that done in Italian. This particular CD is very easy listening and relaxing and makes for good cuddle music too !

Free Music Review: A must for any Zucchero fan!
Hit: 5 Stars

Please note this review is pertaining to the IMPORT (not Italian) version of this CD which has 18 tracks. Of the four extra songs not on this CD, only one of them is a 'skipper,' (the Tom Jones duet that I mention below). Otherwise, it's worth the few extra dollars (I think) to get the longer, IMPORTED version. If not, get this one! You have got to give Zucchero a try if you haven't already. I also highly recommend his "BLUE" CD.

I adore this CD. It's worth the price just for the Macy Gray (Jeff Beck) duet in "Like The Sun" which is my favorite, if I was pressed.
If you already have 'SHAKE', you will recognize the John Lee Hooker duet from that cd; but you can't hear that tune too many times, either.
"Blue" from the BLUE cd is made fresh with the Sheryl Crow addition. I don't know who "Mousse T." is, but the "Mama Get Real" duet is a toe tapping winner.

I only have to skip past a couple of unfortunate songs here: the duet with Tom Jones (!!) being one of them. But there is Lots to love here like I said before-well worth the price for any Zucchero fan.

Laurie in Alaska

Free Music Review: additional touches add excitement
Hit: 5 Stars

Although the pieces on this CD have appeared on other Zucchero CDs, hearing Zucchero perform his premiere pieces with musicians that he has admired for years--and who have admired him--adds a new level of excitement. Each other performer brings something different to each piece, that makes it just different enough to be an exciting album. Solomon Burke on Devil in Me is perfection. Brian May on Il Mare--exquisite. And the pairings of B.B. King and John Lee Hooker and Miles Davis, almost need no words. And Eric Clapton on Wonderful World. 'Nuff said.

This album is what I call desert island material. If I were stranded on a desert island, with only ten cds, this is one that is going with me.
If you're going to get this one though, get the Italian release--it has more pieces.
