Free Music Review: It's a Shame
Hit: 5 Stars

That more Americans don't know about this incredible artist. I am embarrassed to say that I just discovered Zucchero in October. By chance I was stranded with the band in Mexico City and got to know some of them. I was invited to see them when we arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica and I was blown away. I came home and ordered this, and many others, to add to my extensive music library. It is a favorite. Just simply phenomenal that one guy has so much talent that he has other artists clamoring to work with him. This is what is wrong with American radio today. We are being deprived of great music.

Free Music Review: Great CD!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I never heard of Zucchero or heard his music, until I read about him in a novel. I read the reviews for this CD and took a chance and bought it. Now it's one of my favorites.

Free Music Review: Sweeeeeeet !
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, wow, wow, I love this CD! I've never heard of Zucchero and came across his CD's the other day on one of my "search for some new (to me) music" jaunts to Borders. I bought it thinking that even if I didn't like his music, at least there were several artists on there that I do love. What an utter gem I found! Zucchero's voice reminds me a bit of Joe Cocker's, kind of husky but more smooth and bluesy. I fell in love with his voice straight away. I just can't believe that he's not bigger in the States.

I really enjoyed all the songs on the CD, but there were a few that really rocked my world.

Totally rocked:

I Lay Down- with John Lee Hooker--whoa...this song breaks my heart; it's so deep, soulful, and sensual. I can't get it out of my head. Zucchero and John Lee Hooker's voices so totally fit with each other on this.

Blue- with Sheryl Crow- I'm not so much a fan of hers, but they sound great together. It's kind of rockin- country sounding.

Like the Sun (From Out of Nowhere) - I just love Macy Gray and this duet is very sweet and very gospel like.

Hey Man (Sing a Song)--O.M.G- B.B. King just rules the world, and these two together singing this song brings me to tears it's so beautiful. Zucchero sings in Italian and B.B. King in English and it's very exotic, soulful, and deeply bluesy all at the same time.

Cosi Celest- with Cheb Mami- I love Cheb Mami's music and voice. This song is just very juicy and more ethnic sounding with Mami's Algerian Rai sound mixed with Zucchero's Italian. So delicious!

Diavolo in Me (Devil in Me) - with Solomon Burke- This is a boogie up the isle sing hallelujah... get down and dance, rockin, gospel type song. You can't stop the body from moving with this one.

Miserere- Seriously, it doesn't get any better than this. I've been into Andrea Bocelli and Pavarotti for a long time and these three together make the most beautiful music. I love when operatic voice is mixed with other genres and it works really well here.

There are so many good songs on this CD and unmentioned by me are songs with famous artists like Sting, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, and other singers I've never heard of, but which I got pleasantly introduced to. What an exceptional CD!

Free Music Review: additional touches add excitement
Hit: 5 Stars

Although the pieces on this CD have appeared on other Zucchero CDs, hearing Zucchero perform his premiere pieces with musicians that he has admired for years--and who have admired him--adds a new level of excitement. Each other performer brings something different to each piece, that makes it just different enough to be an exciting album. Solomon Burke on Devil in Me is perfection. Brian May on Il Mare--exquisite. And the pairings of B.B. King and John Lee Hooker and Miles Davis, almost need no words. And Eric Clapton on Wonderful World. 'Nuff said.

This album is what I call desert island material. If I were stranded on a desert island, with only ten cds, this is one that is going with me.
If you're going to get this one though, get the Italian release--it has more pieces.
